NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BRCKO - The president of Republika Srpska (RS), Biljana Plavsic, stated in Brcko, after the Arbitration Commission closed today's session in Rome, that she expected "status quo" for this city. "I am great optimist only because the Federation has weak arguments. However, I think that we will have to wait for a final decision until 15th of February, for the outlines of the settlement will be known after the Rome meeting", stated president Plavsic.

SARAJEVO - The president in the Dayton B-H Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, received in Pale charge d'etat of the US Embassy in Sarajevo, Michael Parmly, to discuss the up-coming meetings between him and US mediator for former Yugoslavia, John Cornblum and Carl Levin, Senator in the US Senate Committee for Armed Forces.

BRCKO - The president of the RS National Assmelby, Dragan Kalinic, stated that the Artibration Commission, which is in session in Rome, "decides of war or peace in this region". "For RS it is a question of peace whether Brcko will remain Serbian, so I hope that talks will result in a political agreement and resolution which will not provoke a new war, but instead will consolidate peace in the Dayton B-H", stated president Kalinic in Brcko.

ROME - In the second day of the session of the Arbitration Commission for the Brcko area, witnesses and experts from the Federation of B-H were heard trying to clear out their stance about the subject of the arbitration. According to reliable information from Rome, the work of the Commission is unfolding in a constructive atmosphere. RS representatives did not state their positions yet, but will come out within next few days.

BRUSSELS - The Serb member of the Dayton B-H delegation at the informative meeting of donors in Brussels, Spasoje Albijanic, expressed his belief that unlike inpast year, funds would be equitably disbursed in RS and the Federation in this year.

SARAJEVO - The OHR spokesman, Colom Murphy expressed his regret for the previous unjust distribution of resources between RS and Federation. At a joint SFOR, UNHCR and OSCE press conference in Sarajevo, he specified that "98 per cent of resources went to the Federation of B-H , while RS got only 2 per cent of funds."

BEOGRAD - The president of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) Vojislav Seselj, stated in Belgrade that Brcko is main artery of the RS and that there cannot be Serbian state without this city". Seselj said at a press conference that "the USA plans to take Brcko under its own control and is presently looking for a modalities to do so."
