SARAJEVO - The head of the General Staff of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS), general Pero Colic, stated that the essential aim of the Army's reorganisation is creation of a professional and highly trained units to correspond all challenges. While being guest to Serb TV programme, general Colic stated that the VRS transformation is ongoing strictly according to the plan, "even though certain problems characterised the early stage of the transformation". "The transformation must to adopted to existing conditions, as is the geo-strategic position of RS", stated the head of the VRS General Staff, adding that "war-time and peace-time troops have never been the same thing".

SRBINJE - Srbinje mayor, Petko Cancar, talked with deputy IPTF commander for Gorazde District, captain Peter Finning, and coordinator with the Matkovic-based Danish Council for Refugees, Badrik Rian, on violations of right to freedom of movement. At the meeting, convened to discuss the frequent Muslim armed and other attacks on Serb civilians travelling through Federation territory, it was concluded that Muslim civilians did not have similar problems while travelling through Serb territory.

SARAJEVO - One of the best-known writers in German language, Peter Hendke, who is in visit to RS since December 19, was received by the RS foreign minister, Aleksa Buha. "I came here as a fried, and I did not come to talk, but to listen to what the Serbs have to say", stated Handke after his meeting with minister Buha.

ZVORNIK - The Municipal Board of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) held a meeting to address Muslim illegal settling of the villages of Jusici and Dugi Do and accommodation of refugees from collective centres in Petkovci and Kiseljak. The president of the SDS Zvornik Municipal Board, Stevo Radic, and Zvornik mayor, Jovan Mitrovic, said negotiations with the Muslims and International Commission for Settling of Zones of Separation, showed that the Muslims have no interest in overcoming the present tense situation.

STOCKHOLM - The IFOR Nordic-Polish Brigade commander, colonel Jan Berngsten, stated after his return home from Doboj that IFOR has accomplished its task, writes the Stockholm paper "Svenska Dagbladet". According to him, the present reduction of IFOR forces is very risky operation, given a possibility of a Muslim attempt at cutting off the Ozren pocket.
