[01] AU BANK READY TO FINANCE RECONSTRUCTION
The Anglo-Yugoslav Bank (AU) is ready to finance new industrial production
in Yugoslavia. This was stated yesterday at the meeting of the Board of
Directors of this bank in London. "The basic task of the bank, the only British
financial institution with the majority of the Yugoslav capital, further to
securing liquidity, is the short-term financing of the Yugoslav economy and
commodities for the industrial production, most of all for the export-oriented
one", stated for TANJUG news agency the President of the Board of Directors
Borka Vucic. To this end, work will be done on the establishment of the credit
lines with the leading European banks and banks in Great Britain. The plan of
operation of the Anglo-Yugoslav Bank has obtained full support of the Bank of
England, the Central Bank of the United Kingdom.

[02] FOR THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA MUCH LESS MONEY
According to the data of the World Bank and the European Commission, in
Bosnia-Herzegovina is now under way the realization of the agreement on the
reconstruction of objects, in the value of 880 million US dollars. This is
stated in the latest report of the office of the Special Envoy of the High
Commissariat for Refugees (UNHCR) for former Yugoslavia. From this amount, 558
million US dollars is scheduled for urgent reconstruction. The World Bank and
the European Commission are concerned because in comparison with the
Muslim-Croat Federation, much less funds are allocated for the Republic of
Srpska, states the report. Therefore, it is concluded, it is to be borne in mind
that substantial funds will be necessary in order for the Republic of Srpska to
reach the dynamics of reconstruction of the Federation.

[03] PLAVSIC HAS POSITIVE VIEWS OF THE INVITATION TO LONDON
President of the Republic of Srpska Biljana Plavsic stated that she is
pleased with the fact that the organizer of the Conference on Bosnia-Herzegovina
in London - Great Britain, is treating equally the Republic of Srpska and the
Muslim-Croat Federation. In the talks with the press in Banja Luka prior to her
departure for London, she stated that the invitation to the representatives of
the entities took place because of the fact that from the leadership of the
Republic of Srpska and of the Federation greatly depends further implementation
of the Dayton Accords. Such an approach, Plavsic qualified as positive in
respect to the past conferences. She is of the view that for the agreement
today, the greatest problem are the attempts at populating the separation zones
with armed soldiers, about which fact the IFOR is having precise data. "They are
even having the data to which military structures in the Muslim-Croat Federation
they belong, these ones who are trying to settle there, so that there can be no
question at all of the refugees from these areas", she specified. Plavsic
announced that "there will be talk about Brcko", as well as of the
discriminatory manner of distribution of funds for Bosnia-Herzegovina because in
the Republic of Srpska so far arrived barely one to two percent of the allocated
funds.

[07] MEASURES FOR REALIZATION OF THE ECONOMIC POLICY IN 1997
Government of the Republic of Serbia at its yesterday's session, under the
chairmanship of Mirko Marjanovic, discussed implementation of measures of the
current economic and social policies, and preparation of measures for the
realization of the economic policy in the year 1997 . The Government was of the
view that the agreement reached between all the carriers of the economic policy
in the country has made it possible for the budget preparation, for the
consolidation of the public consumption balance and the other instruments of the
economic policy, to be performed in good time. It was further stated, however,
that in the realization of the economic and social functions some unforeseen
problems are appearing, which are most of all, coming from the side of the
parties which are expressing their dissatisfaction with the electoral results
through the rallies in the streets, especially in Belgrade. The Government
stated that, further to the extensive and direct material damages caused as a
consequence of vandal behavior of the participants of the rallies of the
coalition "Zajedno" ("Together"), the economy and even more the citizens are
suffering losses due to traffic, communal, work and other obstructions.
Therefore, the Government has concluded that all the resor ministries are to
undertake legally prescribed activities in order to alleviate consequences and
damages caused by the violent behavior. The Government has decided, regardless
of all the current problems, to intensify its work on the implementation of the
Program of economic recovery and economic policy, with the basic targets the
stability and elevation of the standard of living of the population.
