[01] SUCCESSFUL REALIZATION OF ERDUT AGREEMENT
Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic received yesterday Mr.
Jaques Klein, UN Administrator for the Srem-Baranya region. The
talks included the current questions and full normalization of
relations in this region. Particular attention was paid to the
measures and activities undertaken to provide conditions for the
economic revitalization of this region, as a significant basis for
free and equal lives of all the citizens. The presence of
international forces also undoubtedly contributes to this task,
which is being carried out successfully and in accordance with the
Erdut Agreement.

[02] MEETING OF YUGOSLAVIA AND MACEDONIA DEFENSE MINISTERS
During the visit of Republic of Macedonia Ministry of Defense
Delegation with the Federal Ministry of Defense, yesterday, in Nis,
Defense Ministers, Mr. Pavle Bulatovic and Blagoj Hadziski
discussed the current military and political situation, stabilizing
the region and the possibilities of mutually useful cooperation of
the two countries in fields of defense and safety. Both sides
greatly appreciate the bilateral cooperation, as well as the
cooperation with the neighboring countries and are willing to
maximally engage in building mutual trust, says the report issued
after this meeting.

[03] BORDERS WITHOUT CUSTOMS
Since yesterday, the customs section of Yugoslav - Macedonian
agreement on free trade between the two countries, signed in
September by the Prime Ministers Radoje Kontic and Branko
Crvenkovski, is being put into practice. Both sides cancelled the
high custom rates. In the future the custom duties on crossing the
border will be abolished. The agreement will greatly contribute to
the expansion of production and engagement of industrial capacities
in both countries, said Mr. Bosko Markovic, Secretary General of
the Yugoslav Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The cooperation with
Macedonia lasts for decades and the two industries are
complementary, this being one of the most important preconditions
for the successful enabling of new ones and renewal of old business
connections, said Mr. Markovic.

[04] LIBERALISATION OF TRADE REGIME BETWEEN RUSSIA AND YUGOSLAVIA
Mr. Nikola Sainovic, Yugoslav Deputy Prime Minister and Mr.
Oleg Davidov, Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Trade in Moscow discussed the economic relations between the two
countries and closed the talks by announcing significant
intensifying of cooperation in the intests of both sides.
"We have provided the base for a great expansion of economic
cooperation till the end of this year," said Mr. Sainovic and
announced the enabling of undisrupted disposal of goods and
services. The forthcoming liberalisation of ecomonic relations
envisages the lifting of all the present barriers and creation of
trade and financial infrastructure, thus enabling a significant
increase in exchange of trade, said Mr. Sainovic.

[05] SCIENTISTS CONFERE ON SERBS IN MACEDONIA
Organized by the World Serbian Community in Sremski Karlovci
on 12-13, October 1996, a Conference of Scientists will be held on
"Serbs in Macedonia", the second one in the series discussing the
position of Serbs in former Yugoslav republics. The scientists will
elaborate the subjects regarding the history and position of Serbs
in Macedonia, their social and political existence, keeping in
contact with the country of origin, education, cultural and
artistic activities and the relations with media. Among others, the
representatives of Serbian, Montenegrian and Macedoninian Academies
of Science and Art, Matica Srpska, Ministries of Foreign Affairs
and the Protection of Human Rights, Serbian Ministry of Culture,
Information, Religion, Education, Science and Technology and
Relations with Serbs outside Serbia, as well as the relevant
Ministries of Macedonia.

[06] INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON NUCLEAR RESEARCH
Although it has banned the construction of nuclear plants,
Yugoslavia should develop the nuclear sciences and follow the
world's achievements in those disciplines in order to find answers
for obtaining pure energy, necessary for the future of our
civilization and the applying of nuclear energy to other scientific
purposes, as well as evading possible consequences of disasters in
nuclear reactors in other countries, said Mr. Dusan Kanazir,
Academician and Minister of Science and Technology in the Serbian
Government yesterday, opening the International Conference on
Nuclear Research. The meeting, organized by the Yugoslav Nuclear
Association and the Vinca Institute in Belgrade, is attended by 62
experts from 13 countries and a number of domestic ones.

[07] INTERNATIONAL MEETING ON NUCLEAR RESEARCH
After all the pressures and humiliations of Serbs in Croatia
in the recent years, today even their Church might be taken away
from them. The Zagreb weekly magazine "Obzor",following the policy
of the ruling party, restored the question of previously planned
forming of the so called Croatian Orthodox Church, stating that the
Orthodox Croats were forced to join the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"Nevertheles, all the Orthodox Churches are named by the state they
perform in, and for the destruction of the Croatian Orthodox
Church, formed in the Ustashi Independent state of Croatia, "Obzor"
is accusing the communists. Head of the Serbian Orthodox Church,
Milanko Popovic said, that in Croatia there is not enough believers
to raise the question of Church independence. The Representative
of Serbs in the Croatian Parliament, Mr. Veselin Pejnovic, said
that this was a church and not a political issue.
Commenting "Obzor" statement that the Serbian Orthodox Church in
Croatia, depends on the Church in a foreign country, Mr. Pejnovic
answered shortly that Vatican is not in Croatia, as well.

[08] CROATS DEMAND REORGANIZATION OF SARAJEVO
The Representatives of the Croatian Democratic Cpmmunity,
boycotting the first, constituting session of the Cantonal Assembly
of Sarajevo three days ago, are trying to use the whole situation
about the status of the town for some other purposes, the Moslem
media are stressing. "These goals are ethnic-pure regions, that the
Croatian Democratic Community did not abandon in practice.", states
the Leader of the Pro-Moslem Oposition Party Mr. Sejfudin Tokic.
The Representatives of Croats from Sarajevo stated that they do not
want to formally participate in the work of such Assembly, since
their federal partners, the Moslems, have the majority of votes in
adopting all the vital decisions. Therefore theay have started an
initiative, six months ago, to reorganize Sarajevo territorially
and politically in order to form new municipalities with Croat and
Moslem majoritry.
