Tirana, September 15 (ata) - By Elton Metaj - The Supervising Council pf Central Bank of Albania decided to decrease by 1% the minimal levels of the interest of the deposits in leks of three, six and twelve months maturity in the banks of state capital, told on Wednesday ATA sources from this Council.

The decision of the Central bank of Albania on dropping the interest's rate is based upon several events, where the most important is the low inflation rates marked recently. The index of Consumption Prices dropped by 0,6, annually, while in the period August 1999-December 1998 a decrease of some 4,4% is made evident. In August, like in June, the inflation rate is the lowest since the end of 1993.

Another reason for decreasing the interest rates is the stability of Albanian currency lek against the main currencies in the Albanian stock market during the Summer season. The averaged interest of the time-limited deposits in leks continues to remain in positive limits.
