[02] Albania Rumania to boost bilateral relations

TIRANA, Feb 13 (ATA) - Albania foreign minister Paskal Milo met late on Saturday with the visiting Rumanian Defence Minister Viktor Babuic to express the will for the promotion of bilateral relations.

Minister Milo referring to the Kosova issue said that the conclusions of the international community on this issue were clear and if the diplomatic efforts failed the use of force should be enacted.

"Belgrade wants to maintain the so-called status quo in Kosova which cannot be considered other than a repressive colonial regime," Milo said.

He added: "This regime should cease to exist and Kosova win its status through self-rule of Albanians."

Later, the Albanian minister Milo said "we want more than any other the success in Rambouillet talks and give our backing to them."

The Rumanian defence minister Babuic, stressing that Rumania backed a peaceful solution to the conflict, said that Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, as a communist product who was interested more in his carrier than the fate of his country, was responsible for the situation in Kosova.

Later Babuic said that his country wished the talks in Rambouillet be a success otherwise there was a possibility of military confrontation with unprecedented consequences.

"We are for a compromise solution through negotiations in order to give the Albanian people of Kosova a possibility to decide for their fate by themselves," he said.

He added: "Rumania is close to the Albanian people and we accept every solution presented by the international community and NATO on Kosova." /dast/ak/

[06] Cooperation in field of public order to be extended between Albania and Hungary - agreement

TIRANE, Feb. 14 (ata) - By Urim Bajrami: An agreement was signed last Friday between the Government of the Republic of Hungary and the Government of the Republic of Albania for cooperation in the fight against terrorism, drug-trafficking and organized crime.

For the Albanian party the agreement was signed by the Minister of Public Order Petro Koci and for the Hungarian party by the Interior Minister, Sandor Pinter.

The agreement in the present conditions, said Albanian Minister Koci, takes a special importance because now organized crime has assumed international proportions. So our task is to make more perfect the cooperation in the fight against crime. Albania, like Hungary, are transitory countries not only of the positive values of mankind but also of organized crime which cannot be fought alone, therefore the signed agreement is very indispensable.

The Hungarian Minister stressed that they are ready to offer professional and technical assistance for Albanian police in all the fields. The creation of joint structures will improve further the cooperation and will yield its fruits soon. /a.ke/xh/
