[01] GREEN LIGHT FOR THE BEGINNING OF CULTURAL LIFE IN ALBANIATIRANE, APRIL 20 (ATA) - By Agim Baci: The National City Folk Festival envisaged to be held by mid-March in Elbasan city, will be held this weekend."We think that the festival will be held by the end of this week. As for the security measures we have been confirmed by the town-hall of Elbasan," said the director of the the Cultural department in the Ministry of Culture, Adem Jakllari. Hence, after some charity concerts in the name of peace and to the memory of the victims of the Straits of Otranto, performed during this period of the state of emergency, it seems that the green light is being opened for the resumption of the normal cultural activities. Jakllari insists in the adoption of strict security measures for the normal course of the festival. ake/kei/xh/k [02] OFFICIAL VISIT OF ALBANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO AUSTRIA AND GERMANYTIRANE, APRIL 20 (ATA) - Upon invitation of the Foreign Minister of Austria, Schussel, the Albanian Foreign Minister Arjan Starova, left on a two-day-visit to Austria today, spokesman of the Foreign Ministry said.Besides meetings with his Austrian counterpart, Minister Starova will also have meetings with other senior personalities of the Austrian policy, in which questions of the present situation in Albania, the aid and cooperation for Albania in various fields will be discussed. From April 24-25, 1997, the Foreign Minister, Starova, will be invited in Germany by his German counterpart, Klaus Kinkel. Also during his stay in Bonn, Minister Starova is expected to have a lot of meetings with senior personalities of the German policy. ake/kei/xh/k [03] ALBANIAN DEMANDS FULL MEMBERSHIP IN THE EUROMEDITERRANEAN CONFERENCETIRANE, APRIL 20 (ATA) - Albania will ask its full membership in the Euro-Mediterranean Conference, spokesman of the Albanian Foreign Ministry reports.Albanian Deputy Foreign Minister Albert Rakipi asked that respective procedures be accelerated so that to open the way to Albania's full membership in the Euro-Mediteranean Forum during meetings he had in the Second Euro-Mediterranean Conference in Malta, in which he participated. The conference was held from April 15-16, 1997. Since the founding meeting of the conference, held in Barcelona in 1995, Albania holds that status of an observer. ake/kei/xh/k [04] ALBANIA WILL TAKE PART IN THE 52ND SESSION OF ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPETIRANE, APRIL 20 (ATA) - A delegation of the Albanian Foreign Ministry led by State Secretary Pavli Zeri will take part in the 52nd Session of the Economic Commission for Europe to be held in Geneva, in the context of the U.N., from April 21-24, 1997.As the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry reports, among the questions to be dwelt upon in the session will be the activity of the Commission to help the economies in transition integrate into the world economy, the cooperation with OSCE, cooperation in the Mediterranean and the budget for the period 1998-1999. ake/kei/xh/k [05] LEKA ZOGU VISITS MAT DISTRICTBURREL, APRIL 20 (ATA) - By Hysen Ruspi: Leka Zogu, the heir to the royal throne, paid a visit Sunday to the district of Mat, Northern Albania. This is the first leg of the tour he plans to make of some districts of Albania.Leka stopped short in the centre of the city of Burrel, although not planned, where he was greeted by thousands of inhabitants who had come out in streets to welcome him. Then, Leka Zogu continued his trip to the village Burgajec, the birthplace of his father, Ahmet Zogu. Attending the rally held on the occasion of Leka's visit by the branch of the Legality Movement Party, were thousands of inhabitants from the countryside and the town, leaders of political forces, local government and people coming from other nearby districts. In his address, Leka Zogu expressed his pleasure that for the first time in his life he could visit his father's birthplace. "Peace, fraternity, unity, not fratricide" was the message he conveyed to thousands people in the meeting. "Albania's future is in your hands," said Leka. "You will decide on the homeland's future, the future of your children." The Minister of the Royal Court, Abedin Mulosmanaj, appealed to Albanians to support the royal alternative in the referendum.
