[01] MASSIVE DEPORTATION OF ALBANIAN EMIGRANTS CONTINUESGJIROKASTER, JAN 11 (ATA)-By H. Cani, The influx of Albanian emigrants deported by the Greek police at the border crossing point of Kakavija continues."Some 370 emigrants returned at 14.00 today," police sources of Gjirokastra confirm to ATA. According to the sources the number of the returned emigrants is expected to increase during the evening hours. Sonce January 8, when the massive deportation of Albanian emigrants from Greece began, the number of the returned has reached 3 000. This deportation was sparked by a burglary in a family in Athens during the New Year days whose authors, according to the Greek police, are thought to be Albanians. Returned emigrants tell ATA that they have been maltreated, even terrorised by the Greek police. Many of them, according to the Kakavija border police authorities, had regular documents. a.ke/kei/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] UNION OF THE RIGHT CREATED IN BERATBERAT, Jan 11 (ATA)- By I. Manka,Members anbd sympathizers of the extreme right parties, the Legality Movement, The National Front, the Democratic Wright Wing created Saturday the Berati Union of the Right. "It was created after the example of the Shkodra Union of the Right," the secretary of the Berati National Front Party, told ATA. Another participant considered this move "independance of the party centres we belong to". The participants criticised the party centres which are distancing themselves from their members. An assembly of five members was elected at the meeting. Luan Myftiu, independent intellectual, was elected chairman of the assembly. In the May 26 elections for deputies to the People's Assembly and those of October 20 for local government, the extreme right parties captured together about 2.3 per cent of the vote. The Berati municipality is represented only by the Democratic Party, the Socialist Party and the Centre Pole. The Shkodra Right Wing League, created an alliance of the Legality Movement Party and the National Front Party, Northern Albania, won in these elections the post the city mayor in the October 20 local elections. Baci,The Argentinean Mario Kempes, the World Champion in 1978 in football has scored the first victory in coaching the Albanian team "Lushnja" of Lushnja. Kempes, coming as a coach in this team after three foreign football players, a Brazilian and two Nigerians, won Saturday against the Durres Team "Teuta". "We have worked. I am satisfied with the team but not with the field on which the match was played. I look forward to a possible qualification," he said after the match. The result was: Lushnja-Teuta 1-0 and the goal was scored by Cukani at the 18th minute from 11 metres. kei/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] SPECIAL ATTENTION ON FISHING IN POGRADECPOGRADEC, JAN 9 (ATA)- By Behar Fejzullai, Considerable investment was carried out during 1996 in Pogradec, Southern Albania, for the reconstruction and utilisation of one of the stations for breeding fish species."The Pogradeci Lake, besides its natural tourist beauty, has uncountable values, especially in fishing. Some 1.5 million leks were invested during 1996 for the reconstruction of the station," said the head of the district agricultural department, Genci Starova. The two stations, one in Tushemisht and the other in Lin, are planned to work in full capacity. This will enable the incerase of the kinds of fish in the lake. Of priority will be the trout and carp. a.ke/kled/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] PRESS REVIEWTIRANA, JAN 12 (ATA0- Today's Rilindja Demokratike says:"The year 1996, a year of important transformations in the reformation of the Albanian Army" and "reorganisation of the banking system in support of the rapid economic development".The paper covers the visit of the Secretary for the DP Public Relations, Ferdinant Xhaferi, to Italy and his meeting with the director of the Italian Foreign Minister Cabinet, Ambassador Umberto Vatani. On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the creation of the Albanian Eur.-Socialist Youth Forum, Zeri i Popullit carries the editorial:"For the SPA the present is vital and the future sure". The paper says that the loan-taking "Populli" Foundation has denounced the National Trade Bank, which, according to the president of this foundation, Bashkim Driza, "is creating obstacles through bureaucratic and arbitrary acts and is not responding on time to our demands for regular payments". Republika says:"'Populli' will stop the activity", and cites Driza as saying that the money provided by the bank do not suffice to make the payments. The paper also says that "The deportation and maltreatment of the Albanians continue", regarding the economic emigrants Greece is returning to Albania following burglaries in several houses in Athens and whose authors are thought to be Albanians. Albania says in its editorial that the "Populli" foundation has offered it 100 000 dollars "for the newspaper to keep silent regarding its great problems in the loan activity". "Hajdari pays the boycotters of classes", says Albania regarding the stimulation by Azem hajdari of the students to boycott classes and stage a strike. Hajdari pretends to be Chairman of the Albanian Independent Trade Union, a thing which has not been recognised by the court. Koha Jone says:"Bashkim Driza, president of the "Populli"foundation accuses state banks of blocking the activity and nonpayment of interests". Regarding the students' strike on the fulfilment of several economic demands, the paper says that :"The strike continues, all the universities will involve in it tomorrow". Dita Informacion says: "The number of loan depositors in Durres decreases" and "Measles poses a threat". Gazeta Shqiptare reports on the strike: "Students in rallies tomorrow: Concerts and many speeches", and "Police guard bosses of usuries". kei/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] EARTHQUAKE TREMORS IN ALBANIATIRANA, JAN 12 (ATA)- An earthquake, whose epicentre was located in an area between Berat and Gramsh, Central Albania, hit several towns on Sunday at 13.11 (local time).According to the Seismological institute of the Academy of Sciences the quake with a magnitude ML-4,3 (Richter scale) measured 5-6 degrees in Berat and Gramsh, 4-5 degrees in Elbasan, Cerrik and 4 degrees in Vlora, Kavaja and Tepelena. Although there are yet no official reports of damage, the ATA correspondent says that there have been wall crevices in old houses. Such damages have also taken place in the Ura Vajgurore town. There are no reports of casualties, the correspondent says. a.ke/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] ALL PUBLIC SERVICE ACTIVITIES LIBERALISEDTIRANA, JAN 11 (ATA)- By M.Allushi, Since January 1st the public service activities financed by the state have been carried out at liberalised prices, according to a latest decision of the Albanian government.The liberalisation will cover the whole public service activities, including city cleaning, greenery, decor, funeral service and cemetery maintenance. The sectors and enterprises that did not manage to switch onto entrepreneurship during 1996, through local government bodies, they will organise until January 15 tenders for procuring the funds defined for these services, based on the law "On public procurement". According to this decision February will be the month of procurement and in March 1997 contracts will be reached with the winning entrepreneurs of tenders. Specialists hold that the decision, which opens the way to the privatisation of these enterprises, will directly influence in the creation of new enterprises. kei/lm/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] DEMACI WITHDRAWS FROM CHAIRMAN OF COUNCIL FOR DEFENCE OF HUMAN RIGHTS AND FREEDOMSTIRANA, JAN 11 (ATA)-Adem Demaci Saturday withdrew from his post as Chairman of the Prishtine Council for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms, because of his election as chairman of the Kosova Parliamentary Party, according to BBC.The presidency of the Council for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms elected as the new chairman Bajazit Nushi, so far deputy chairman.
