The most intensive program is the social one. This program has provided economic aid and clothes for about 3 500 people. Among them, 1 800 people have been members of low income families and families with many children.

In the context of this program, wheel chairs for 45 invalids and handicapped people have been distributed. Also activities have been made in the House for the Aged, the Children's House, the Sheft kindergarten, etc.

A specific point of the Tirana Red Cross is also the organization of these activities by voluntary youths.

The program of aid in cases of calamities has made possible an assistance for 300 families whose houses have been flooded and burnt. The aid in these cases has consisted in a great amount of food articles, clothes and blankets distributed emergently.

Assisting the realisation of the Blood Program are over 40 people who donate blood free of charge systematically.

For the Health Program, voluntary doctors have checked up about 50 lonely aged people who cannot move to see the doctor themselves.

The First Aid Program is totally based on the work of voluntary youths, who, organized in groups, realise the first medical aid in stadiums and in swimming pools during summer.

    [05] ALBANIANS PREFER AMERICAN FILMS

TIRANA, DEC 29 (ATA) - By Keida Kostreci: Albanians prefer newest American films and with most renowned actors as protagonists. Hiring of films in videotheques has become a massive phenomenon in Tirana. All the age groups, especially the youth, get pleasure in the latest achievements of the cinema for an amount of 100 lek (about 1 dollar) for one cassette, for 24 or 48 hours.

According to videotheques Fantasy and Ciak, the most preferred films recently are "Desperado" with actor Antonio Banderas, "Assassins" with Banderas and Stallonen, "Casino" with actors Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone, "Brave heart" with Mel Gibson, "Dead man walking" with Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn, a film produced in 1995.

Also preferable are the film-comedies, such as "Ace Aventura" and "The Mask" with the main actor Jim Carrey, adventures of Mr Bean, "Four marriages and a funeral" with Hugh Disney, etc.

Less attractive are the cartoons of Walt Disney.

The French films are wanted less than American and Italian films.

Only five out of about 500 films that Fantasy has are pornographic.

With regard to Albanian films, the concern of the owners and sellers in videotheques of Tirana is that their price in the ATV, which is authorized for their selling, is very expensive.

For 1997, theobjective is that the foreign films they have be in the original language and with Albanian subtitles.

The average number of people who hire video cassettes a day is 40-50. The number of videotheques in Tirana is 7.xh/sh/
