JULY 25, 1998 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BRCKO - The chief of staff of the Republika Srpska (RS) Army (VRS) lieutenant general , Momir Talic said in an interview with the VRS paper "Srpska vojska" that he was getting the impression that "some people in their struggle for power spread deliberately the misinformaion, about the joint army in B&H in order to gain political points among people". Stressing that at the meetings with the Joint Military Committee and the Joint Army, Talic said that "all those who insist on that question are not familiar with the Dayton Peace Agreement or they are not wellintentioned".

BANJALUKA - In the Centre of Military schools of the VRS "Rajko Balac" in Banjaluka a class of the noncommissioned officers has been promoted. After playing of the national anthem "Boze pravde" and paying respect to the fallen fighters, those present were welcomed by the RS Defence Minister, Manojlo Milovanovic. He addressed to the young noncommissioned officers warning them that hard work and devotion is still ahead.

PRIJEDOR - The twin brothers Miroslav and Milan Vuckovic from Prijedor stated that they were beaten by the SFOR members and were forced to sign the recognition that they are the Banovic brothers, against who the Hague War Crimes Tribunal brought criminal charges of alleged war crimes. The Vuckovic brothers were mistakenly arrested on July 22nd in Prijedor and transferred to the Hague, and on July 24 returned to Prijedor.

PRIJEDOR - Major Havala Steniek from the Czech SFOR battalion denied that Czech soldiers were involved in the arrest of the Vuckovic brothers, Milan and Miroslav in Prijedor. At the meeting between the Secretary for the economic issues of the Czech Embassy in Sarajevo, Vratislav Mah, with the presidents of the Municipal Assembly and the Executive Board for the Prijedor region, Stenjak said that Czech soldiers were only securing the building of the SFOR office.

PRIJEDOR - A Secretary for economic issues in the Czech Embassy in Sarajevo, Vratislav Mah, said to the Presidents of the Municipal Assembly and the Executive Board of the Prijedor region that economic cooperation between his country and this region can be established through the SFOR office in the city and direct visit by the RS businessmen to Bohemia. During talks with businessmen delegations from Novi Grad, Kozarska Dubica, Srpska Kostajnica kostajnica, Krupa na Uni, Srpski Sanski Most that businessmen from these regions can establish relations with enterprises from Bohemia through the SFOR office in Prijedor.

PRISTINA - During attacks of the ethnic Albanian terrorists on the police unit in the village Zborice near Stimalj, two of the terrorists were injured and ten were taken prisoners. According to the Municipal authorities in Urosevac the injured Albanians were transferred to hospital in Pristina. The terrorists who surrendered to the Serbian police were armed with the automatic weapons and were wearing signs of the "Kosovo Liberation Army".

PRISTINA - Strong groups of Albanian terrorists attacked last night in a synchronized manner the FRY Army units near Komoran and the village of Kijevo in the Klina Municipality and about 7:00p.m. the police positions on the Vran stena near Orahovac and the village of Velika Hoca. As the Media Centre in Pristina reported members of the FRY Army answered on the fire of the Albanian terrorists who were using the automatic weapons and RPGs.

BANJALUKA - Future of the B&H is not possible without a dialogue, which must take place, no matter particularities and differences between the three constitutive ethnic groups and the two entities - the Republika Srspka (RS) and the Federation of B&H (FB&H) - this is a primary direction and a conclusion of the round table discussion "Bosnia-Herzegovina's dialogues" in Banjaluka. About 30 participants from the RS and FB&H tried to analyse the current situation in B&H and its future as a complex state community. Most of the participants of the round table discussion, organised by the International Forum Bosnia from Sarajevo and the City Forum from Banjaluka, see the current and future B&H in the framework of the Dayton Peace Accord. There were some opinions that in B&H there is not any element of a state, and professor Mico Carevic from Banjaluka asked "what kind of a state is this where unique rights and freedoms of a citizen have not been regulated".

BANJALUKA - A corporal of the Belgium-Luxembourg SFOR division has been killed in a traffic accident south of Kupres - confirmed the Media-Centre of the SFOR southwest division in Ramici near Banjaluka. Name of the soldier who has been killed will be issued lately, after his family is informed about his tragic death. "Other four men who were in the SFOR vehicle were slightly injured and they have been transferred to the SFOR clinics in Sipovo and Tomislavgrad", is said in the Media Centre announcement. Causes of the accident have not been announced yet.

MOSTAR - The electoral headquarters of the B&H Croatian Democratic Community (HDZ) forwarded a letter to the OSCE Commission of the media experts in which they ask for taking urgent measures related to the declaration of the high official of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), Irfan Ajanovic, in the RTV B&H show, as well as against the editor, Senad Hadzifejzovic - Croatian radio Herceg-Bosnia reports.During the show Ajanovic described, on several occasions, the HDZ B&H as a fascistic and nationalistic party, which has commiteed all kinds of crimes including demolishing and burning of the houses.

KRALJEVO - A member of the Main Board of the Democratic Party (DS) and the President of the Kraljevo City Board (DS), Slavisa Vojinovic, stated for the press that the FRY Army and the Internal Affairs Ministry would have to propose legal measures for stamping out of terrorism in Kosmet, respecting all international conventions and regulations related to the protection of civilians and war prisoners. Asked how the DS assesses the current political situation in RS, Vojinovic said that the forthcoming elections in September will have a great importance for RS regarding the international community intentions to carry out, step by step, an integration of Serbian entity into the unitary B&H.
