NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

ORAHOVAC - Members of the Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry (MUP) unblocked yesterday afternoon Orahovac and took control over the whole city area - police sources stated. The police and local authorities warn people about danger of hidden snipers.

PRISTINA - Among a group of 1,000 terrorists who tried to cross illegally from Albania to FRY, near the border barracks Djakovica, there were 16 citizens of Saudi Arabia, Yemen and FYRM, the FRY Army reported. According to the documents, found with the dead members of this terroristic organisation, it has been established that the group included five Albanians, the FYRM citizens, six citizens of Saudi Arabia, one Yemen citizen and six Arabs, who were registered in Germany.

PRISTINA - The British Embassy representative in FRY, David Slyn, visited the day before in the prison of Lipljan a British citizen Sally Baker, who was sentenced to 30-day prison term because of the illegal crossing the FRY border. Slyn stated after the visit that "she generally feels good". The FRY border guards had arrested Baker on July 16th in her attempt to transfer from FRY to Republic of Albania a group of ethnic Albanians.

MOSTAR - The Association of the Herceg-Bosna volunteers organised in Ljubusko a peaceful support protest for the "wrongly accused Croats who have been charged by the Hague War Crimes Tribunal" - Croatian Radio Herceg- Bosna reported.

BELGRADE - The Republika Srpska (RS) senator, expert on the international law, Kosta Cavoski, said that an idea for founding of the Permanent Court of the International Criminal Law had existed for 50 years and proposition for its statute proved how bad is the way of judging by the Hague War Crimes Tribunal. "This idea has been brought to an end in the last couple of years, since the UN Commission for the international law made a Draft of the statute which regulations are much better then the 'ad hoc' regulations made by the Intrenational War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia" - said Cavoski for SRNA.

KLINA - A messenger of the Klina Municipal Assembly, Rados Krstic, has been killed on the Zajmovo - Klina road - SRNA has learned in Klina. The shot was fired from the sniper and he died instantly.

UROSEVAC - A group of Albanian terrorists in uniforms of the terroristic "Kosovo Liberation Army" kidnapped last night at about seven o'clock Serbs, Veselin Lazic and Sinisa Lukic from the village of Gornja Nerodimlja near Urosevac.

MOSCOW - Russia accused Albanian terrorists of prolonging the conflict in Kosovo and Metohija and called on immediate halt to military action and for a return to negotiations - Reuters reports. "Despite all the attempts by the international community, situation in Kosmet is still deteriorating. "It is happening due to openly provocative acts by Albanian fighters, Foreign Ministry spokesman, Vladimir Rakhmanin said in a statement.

BELGRADE - Research fellow at the Institute for the international policy, Konstatin Obradovic, judged in Belgrade that the Resolution, adopted by 23 American senators against the Yugoslav President, Slobodan Milosevic, had no significance. "It is aimless and with no importance, because accused of war crimes must be tried before the Hague War Crimes Tribunal" - said Obradovic.

SKOPLJE - The FYRM Internal Affairs Ministry stated that in Tetovo a fight broke out between young Macedonians and Albanians, in which three men were injured. The material damage was significant.

BANJALUKA - A journal "Povratak" for the refugees from RS, FB&H, FRY and Republic of Croatia has been promoted in Banjaluka. The paper in free 10, 000-copy printing, has been printed by "Dnevnik" from Novi Sad. The firs promotion of the paper was in Tuzla and then it will be in Banjaluka, Sarajevo and Belgrade.

DOBOJ - Around 40 and 50 refugees from the region of Srem- Baranja, register monthly to the Ministry of Refugees and Displaced Persons in Doboj. The accurate number of refugees from the former Yugoslavia will be known this week, after processing of the applications, issued by the UNHCR and filled by refugees.

SARAJEVO - The President in the B&H Presidency from Republika Srpska (RS), Momcilo Krajisnik, held talks in Pale with a chief of the Representative Office of the UN Commission, Hans Crechmer. Krajisnik stressed that refugees should have a right to return, possibility for compensation or disposal with the property according to their own will. "Referring to the previous course of the implementation of the Dayton Peace Accord, Krajisnik said that the most difficult time is behind us because, foundations for equal relation between the two entities and three nation were settled, what will support further implementation of the Agreement", is said in the statement from the President's Cabinet.

BANJALUKA - The RS Information Ministry warned on a wrong terminology in regard to the B&H in the FB&H media and some documents of the international community. "More or less easily, syntagms like "Dayton's B&H" and "union of B&H" have been uprooted in RS, while we still have a notion of Bosnia, which means B&H, and Bosniacs, denotes the B&H inhabitant" - is said in the statement issued by the Information Ministry.

BRCKO - At the city hospital in Brcko an autopsy and identification of 36 of 55 disappeared Serbs has been concluded, who were sought by Serbs since 1992. By an autopsy performed by the Expert Team of the RS State Commission, headed by a pathologists Zeljko Karan from Banjaluka, it has been established that most of the victims died by firing squad after they had been arrested, while three of the bodies were found without their heads. The youngest victim was a 17-year old and the oldest 80-year-old.

BANJALUKA - Presidency of the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) pointed out the "dismissals, arrests and interrogations carried out against the leading men in the SDS" and warned that "that kind of policy by the ruling Government is disastrous". In the announcement, the SDS stresses its decisiveness "to prevent, with all political means quiet division of RS".

PRIJEDOR - The President of the RS Socialist Party , Zivko Radisic, said in Prijedor that RS was fighting on two fronts - one regarding its sovereignty, identity and equality, and the other one regarding its internal affairs - for programmes and projects of democratic and reform changes. "The SPRS has its full share of these events because it first commenced in a protection of true national, state and spiritual Serbian institutions in RS", said Radisic in Prijedor.

PODGORICA - The first Diplomatic Academy in the southeast of Europe, will start with work on September 21st, in 1998 in Podgorica - announced director of the Academy ScD Aleksandar Fatic at a press-conference in Podgorica. According to the plan, at the first Academy will be held a five- week session on a subject "The EU, NATO and the southeast of Europe".

BRCKO - The President of the Republika Srpska (RS) National Assembly, Petar Djokic, and chiefs of the delegates' clubs, discussed in Brcko an agenda for the 7th Assembly session, due to be held on August 13th in Banjaluka. After consultations, Djokic announced several items for the discussion - reports on work of the Supreme court and Public Prosecutor's Offices in RS, etc.

PRISTINA - Albanian terrorists killed a messenger for the Klina Municipality, Rados Krstic, police sources reported. Krstic was on his way to Klina at 6:30a.m., from the village of Zajmovo, riding a bicycle, and near the motel "Nora" he was shot by the sniper.

PRISTINA - Inhabitants of the village of Dresnik near Klina, the largest Serbian village in that part of Metohija, overcome the attack of Albanian terrorists, from Iglarevo, on July 19th, at 7:00p.m., police sources stated. There were no casualties among people from Dresnik.

PRISTINA - Chief of the Kosovo region, Veljko Odalovic, held talks in Pristina with the UNICEF special representative for FRY, Steven Allen. During talks, Odalovic stressed the need for engagement of this organisation in releasing the people kidnapped by Albanian terrorists. He informed the UNICEF delegation about the situation in Kosmet.

PRISTINA - Italian Ambassador to Belgrade, Ricardo Ceca, said to the chief of the Kosovo region, Veljko Odalovic, that his country supported solution for the Kosmet problem within FRY borders, what included a certain degree of an autonomy for the minorities according to the highest standards of the international community. At the meeting in Pristina Italian Ambassador expressed concern on behalf of the Italian Government because of the conflicts in Kosmet and a hope that political solution would appear through an unconditional dialogue.
