NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJA LUKA - The president of Republika Srpska /RS/ Biljana Plavsic and the economists from Knezevo agreed in Banja Luka that it is necessary to provide the significant financial resources for enlivening the economy in this municipality, especially in the part of the forests and wood- industrial complex.

SARAJEVO - The co-presiding in the Council of Ministers of B&H Boro Bosic stated in Pale that by the Project for rehabilitation and modernisation of facilities for water supplying and cleaning the waste waters in the parts of Serbian and Moslem Sarajevo.

SARAJEVO - To the educational system in RS is given unacceptably small amount of international aid, and some regions of Republic are on so called black lists of international community, which can't be continued, assessed the vice-president of RS Government Velibor Ostojic during the meeting with the deputy chief of EU office in Sokolac Joanis Cakiridis. In talks in Pale was expressed the expectation that in the next period the international community will more substantially assist the education in RS.

TREBINJE - The representatives of the RS and Montenegro Governments agreed the way of financing the development of the road Trebinje - Herceg Novi, 30 kms long, as well as that both republics will equally participate in the realisation of this project. This meeting, held on October 2 in Trebinje, is the first step towards the concretizing the earlier agreement of premiers of RS and Montenegro Gojko Klickovic and Milo Djukanovic, which objective is the signing the contract about development this road. By the realisation of this project will be built the shortest road link of RS with Adriatic coast.

SARAJEVO - The mayor of the Serbian Sarajevo Mirko Sarovic and the Chinese Ambassador Wen Xigua talked in Lukavica about the possibilities of renewing the pre-war economic relations of the Chinese enterprises and enterprises from the Sarajevo region. Sarovic said after the meeting that the Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China insisted on the renewal of the former links because of the great interest of Chinese partners, and in that sense, particularly accentuated the "Energoinvest" and its Office in Beijing.

SARAJEVO - The OSCE spokesman David Foley stated in Sarajevo that OSCE wields the results of the local elections from the

Serbian municipalities, and that the final results for all municipalities in B&H most probably be announced on Wednesday, October the 8. At the press conference of the international organisations Foley in Sarajevo confirmed that the Parliamentary elections in RS will be held on November 23 and that the deadlines for registration of parties and candidates will be announced soon.

BRCKO - The security situation in the region which control the Centre of the public security /CJB/ Brcko is stable, and all police stations of the service of state security and border police are professionally conducting its duties - was assessed at the meeting of the staff of police station. This meeting was presided by the deputy minister of Internal Affairs in RS Government Momcilo Mandic, who warned that there are the announcements of the possible diversions in the region of Brcko with the aim of discrediting the Serbian authorities and Serbian Democratic Party /SDS/. "However, the Serbian police is ready to prevent all such attempts and protect the people and its property in the region of Brcko", stressed Mandic.

BRCKO - By the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS for the head of CJB Brcko was appointed Mico Sikimic from Brcko. After the participating of the former head of Police Station Andrija Bjelosevic in the attempt of surrendering the Centre to the SFOR troops and under the supervision of the president of RS Biljana Plavsic on August 28, this function in the transitional period performed Petko Budisa from Sarajevo and deputy head of CJB Brcko Radoslav Marjanovic.

ZVORNIK - The municipal Board /OO/ of SDS Zvornik sent to the OHR /Office of High Representative for civilian affairs/ Carlos Westendorp and the command of SFOR the requirement for unblock of four transmitters of the Serbian Radio - TV /SRT/, so in the region of whole Republic would be established the unique programming. In the request is stressed that OO SDS Zvornik in whole respect the agreement on work of media achieved between the president in B&H Presidency from RS Momcilo Krajisnik and SFOR commander Eric Shinseki, so the lifting the blockade of transmitters have to be done in order to avoid the wrong picture about the intentions of peace-making forces.

BELGRADE - The Association of Serbs from B&H in Belgrade most sharply condemned the action of SFOR by which they occupied the transmitters in RS. "We are astonished by the fact that those who swears in the highest principles of freedom and democracy, first of all freedom of speech and thinking, as well as freedom of media, by tanks and helicopters are stepping over these principles" - is stressed in the announcement of the Association of Serbs.
