MAY 21 1997 DAY

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

SARAJEVO - The president of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (RS), Dragan Kalinic, convened the eight session of the RS Assembly for May 26, to be held in the "Bistrica" Hotel on the Mt. Jahorina. The most interesting items on the agenda are Report on Government activities from December 1, 1996 to May 1, 1997 and Information on implementation of the Agreement on Special parallel relations between RS and FR Yugoslavia.

SARAJEVO - The RS prime minister, Gojko Klickovic, received in Pale the charge d'affaires of the US Embassy in Sarajevo, Michael Parmly. After a brief discussion behind the doors, journalists were told that Parmly came in a private visit to inform the RS prime minister of Madlen Olbright's forthcoming visit to RS and the Federation.

SARAJEVO - The ITPF has no new findings about the fate of two Serb civilians who are reported missing in the Muslim-held part of Trnovo - Svetko Gacanin and Gajo Dursun, because Federal authorities reject every cooperation on this issue, stated ITPF spokesman Alexander Ivanko. At a regular press conference in Pale he said that the two were probably arrested, but IPTF did not discover the place of their detention.

SARAJEVO - High representative's spokesman, Colum Murphy, stated at a press conference held in Pale that all war criminals should be delivered to the Hague, but the problem in their handing over lays in "the fact that the are protected by the people". In this context, Murphy said such an initiative "should come out directly from Pale", as he once again ascribed responsibilities for misfortune in war to the Serbian people and its representatives, even though without offering any substantial argument.

DOBOJ - The RS Commission for POW Exchange and Missing Persons discovered additional four bodies of fallen Serb soldiers on Ozren. The four soldiers were probably killed on May 1995 in the area of Podcijelovi.

DOBOJ - The health condition of the OSCE driver, Milorad Stetic, arrested by Croat authorities on March 23 at the Zagreb airport "Pleso", is stable and he is presently detained in the Gospic prison, announced OSCE. Stetic was arrested on charges of committing war crimes in the Republic of the Srpska Krajina. OSCE officials visited him in prison, but could not learn anything about prospects of his release.

SOKOLAC - The central celebration of the Republika Srpska Army (VRS) Day - Vidovdan - will take place on June 28 and 29 in Sokolac.

AMSTERDAM - Ethnic cleansing and national hatred are not features only of finished war in the former Yugoslavia, but are a part of a chain and inevitable consequences of overlapping Serb and Croat interests and false efforts to territorially encompass these two ethnic areas. This is a common estimation by two British journalists, author of "Serbs, History, Myth and Break-Up of Former Yugoslavia", Tim Chudah and his colleague, author of the book "Croat Nation Fabricated in The War" Marcus Tamer.

NOVI SAD - The district secretary for information of the Slavonsko- Baranjska District, Radoslav Mutavdzic, warned that the status of Serb media after the reintegration of this area into Croatia is very. He referred to four Radio stations - Vukovar, Borovo, Beli Manastir and Mirkovci - and TV studios in Vukovar and Beli Manastir and local press, adding that these media employ 150 workers.

BEOGRAD - The Greek defence minister, Akis Dzohacopulous, should arrive this evening to Belgrade for talks with Yugoslav defence minister, Pavle Bulatovic. Dzohacopulous should also meet with Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic and Yugoslav foreign minister, Milan Milutinovic.

BEOGRAD - The Coalition "Together", made-up of the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO), Serbian Civic Alliance (GSS) will formally cease to exist, assessed a SPO official who desired to remain anonymous. He is certain that SPO president Vuk Draskovic will not reply to an invitation of Zoran Djindjic to meet tomorrow at the Coalition "together" Presidential Council and consider problems which caused the break-up the coalition.

SARAJEVO - The SRNA Film will present its movies "It Is Luck To Stay Alive" by Milovan Pandurevic and "My Milan" by Dusko Andzic at this year's International Movie festival of Slav and Orthodox countries "Golden Knight" which will be held from May 23 to June 3 in Moscow.
