BANJALUKA - Upon the invitation by the State Department, last night a
delegation of Republika Srpska (RS), which is headed by RS vice-president,
Dragoljub Mirjanic, left for Washington where it is expected to talk within
the next days with US officials about the current arbitration over the
inter-entity boundary line in the area of Brcko. The RS foreign minister,
Aleksa Buha, a RS member of the arbitration panel on inter-entity boundary
line in the area of Brcko, Vitomir Popovic and the head of the Brcko
Municipal Assembly, Miodrag Pajic also comprise this delegation.
ZVORNIK - The head of the Police Station in Zvornik, colonel Dragomir Vasic,
stated that in the future a RS police department comprised of 20 policemen
and a commander will exist in the village of Mahala, controlling this area
for 24 hours daily. "Policemen armed with pistols and sticks will be
assigned to register the entire population within the first three days,
especially, those fit for military service, and then to check all
permissions issued by the International Commission on settling the inter-
entity zone of separation", said Vasic.
THESSALONIKI - The RS vice-president Velibor Ostojic, and the minister for
education, science and culture, Stevan Stevic, talked separately in
Thessaloniki with the mayor of this city, Konstantin Kozmopulos and the
Greek minister of culture, Evangelos Venizelos, about the cultural
cooperation between the two countries. "This is the continuation of our
talks with Greek officials, which were commenced on January 30, 1997 on the
occasion of the opening of a cultural manifestation called 'Thessaloniki -
the cultural capital of the Balkan states' in Thessaloniki when RS also
became the member of this organisation", stated Ostojic.
HAMBURG - The deadline for the return of 340,000 refugees from the Dayton
B&H, who are presently living in Germany, will be probably prolonged, DPA
cites the Berlin paper Welt am Sonntag. According to his source, the
omissions on the part of the German Ministry of Internal Affairs and
bureaucracy faults made by EU's authorised bodies are the reason for
prolonging of the deadline.
