NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The Government of Republika Srpska (RS) named new members of the State Commission for POW Exchange and Missing Persons, appointing Jovo Rosic Commission's president and Gostimir Ivankovic his deputy.

BANJALUKA - The Serbian Patriotic Party of RS welcomed the appointing of the New General Staff of the RS Army, pointing out that the decision is legal.

SARAJEVO - The British General Michael Walker handed over the command over the IFOR Ground Troops to IFOR commander, US general William Crouch.

BIJELJINA - The celebration of the St. Archangel Day, the Patron Saint of the RS Police began in Bijeljina by the breaking of the sacrificial lamb.

ZVORNIK - Following an incursion of 200 armed Muslim into the Serbian village of Gajevi, on Mt. Majevica, the IFOR First Infantry Division commander, general Migz Montgomery, ceased further settling of the zone of separation.

KOTOR VAROS - The status of Croats living in the area of Tesanj is all the more unbearable; the Croats are being increasingly frequent harassed by Muslim, reports Croat Radio-Usora. The Radio assesses that, blinded by hatred and Islamic fundamentalism, the Muslim extremists in Tesanj swept down on the Croatian children, preventing them from attending school lessons in the "Kulin ban" Primary School, in the village of Zabljak.

BRUSSELS - The ambassadors of NATO countries are expected to adopt, following a "very long troublesome bargaining", a final version of the agreement on the international peace-keeping forces to be sent to Bosnia next year.

BERLIN - The Berlin paper "Junge Welt" published an article titled "The Hague Tribunal Faces Disrepute", emphasising that "The Tribunal has been thus far tried only the Serbs", in which he mentioned several examples on tribunal's partiality.

HAMBURG - In the semi-official circles in Bonn, the peace in the post- Dayton Bosnia is assessed to stand on a flimsy legs, writes the German press, adding that the continuing arming of the Muslim encourages them to believe to achieve the remaining objectives, which the Dayton agreement, as the Muslims view, only delayed.

SARAJEVO - The US ship loaded with arms for the Corat-Muslim Federation received a "green light" from Washington to unload cargo, reports AFP. This decision followed the US demand for replacement of the defence minister Vladimir Soljic and his deputy Hasan Cengic. BEOGRAD - Unpleased with the results of the local elections in Belgrade, the Socialist Party of Serbia started the sacking of directors of some most influential information agencies in Serbia, like Serbia's Radio and TV and TV "Politika".

ZAGREB - The medical treatment of the Croatian president Franjo Tudjman opened a debate in Croatia about his successor in the crucial moment for the consolidation of peace in the Dayton B-H, reports AfP. Croatian independent papers started up a debate over Tudjman's successor which is still a "taboo" for the regime media.
