We do not want war," Denktas said and repeated his call for an urgent meeting between himself and Clerides to defuse the build-up of tension.

On the other hand, the Turkish Foreign Minister will travel to northern Cyprus today to attend the funeral of the murdered border guard. Ciller asked British Ambassador Walter K. Predergast on Sunday for a detailed report on the incident that happened close to the border between the Turkish Cypriot state and the sovereign British base. Ciller said that it was clear that the perpetrators of the murder on Sunday crossed into the Turkish Cypriot state through the sovereign British base area. /All Papers/
