FIGURES ARE IN LINE WITH PROGRAM
WASHINGTON D.C. - International Monetary Fund (IMF) Turkey Desk Chief
Juha Kahkonen said on Tuesday that despite political uncertainty in
Turkey, economic figures were in line with the program
[02] DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER YILMAZ GUESSES THAT PARLIAMENT WILL BE
CALLED FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING IN SEPTEMBER
ANKARA - Deputy Prime Minister and Motherland Party (ANAP) leader Mesut
Yilmaz said on Tuesday that he guessed that the parliament would be
called for an extraordinary meeting in September.
[03] DIRIOZ SAYS TURKEY CONSIDERS IRAQ'S TERRITORIAL INTEGRITY
INDISPENSABLE CONDITION OF REGIONAL STABILITY
ANKARA - Foreign Ministry Spokesman Huseyin Dirioz said on Tuesday that
Turkey considered Iraq's territorial integrity an indispensable
condition of regional stability.

NEW YORK/ANKARA - Fitch, one of the leading rating organizations,
affirmed on Tuesday its sovereign ratings for Turkey. Both foreign
currency and local currency remain at ''B'' while the short-term rating
is also confirmed at ''B''.
[08] TREASURY AUCTIONS 161-DAY BONDS
ANKARA - The Treasury Undersecretariat auctioned 161-day bonds on
Tuesday. The total bid had been 521.5 trillion Turkish liras (TL) while
the Treasury sold 378.4 trillion TL nominal-valued 161-day bonds in the
auction.

WORKING LUNCH HOSTED BY DEIK
ISTANBUL - Foreign Economic Relations Comittee (DEIK) will host
Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation Presidential Council members in Istanbul

BERLIN - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem arrived in German capital Berlin
on Tuesday.

TEHRAN - Turkish security delegation that is currently in Iran to
attend Turkey-Iran Higher Security Commission meetings, will visit
Isfahan later on Tuesday.

ANKARA - The agreement to prevent double taxation and to fight against
tax evasion will be signed in Spanish capital Madrid on Friday.
[13] EXPORTS FROM AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR INCREASE BY 7.7 PERCENT
BURSA - The exports from the automotive sector in the first six months
of 2002 increased 7.7 percent to 2 billion 116 million U.S. dollars.

WASHINGTON D.C. - The United States has been supporting the Ankara
Document signed among Turkey, the United States and Britain about the
European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP) despite efforts to change

WASHINGTON D.C. - The attitude of the European Union (EU) about the
Cyprus question does not help efforts to find a solution. The EU
neither forces Turkish Cypriot side to reach an agreement nor motivates
Greek Cypriot side.

ISTANBUL - Foreign Minister Ismail Cem left on Tuesday for Germany. Cem
is scheduled to come together with Foreign Minister Joschka Fisher of
Germany at a luncheon later in the day.
