HURRIYET (LIBERAL)

TURKISH AND ARMENIAN BUSINESSMEN TO MEET IN WASHINGTON D.C
U.S. businessmen with Turkish origin call Turkish businessmen to have cooperation. Armenian businessmen who will meet with the Turkish business world in Washington D.C., will propose Turkey to work together. Kaan Soyak, the Chairman of the Turkish-Armenian Business Development Committee and a member of the Turkish-Armenian Business Council, said that the Turkish businessmen will hold contacts with the U.S. businessmen of Armenian origin during their U.S. visit which will start on March 29.

NEW ADDRESS OF SHUTTER TRADE IS ALGERIA AND TUNISIA
The Algerians are reviving the shutter trade which stagnated due to the crisis in Russia. Algeria and Tunisia are a new hope for the tradesmen of Laleli district of Istanbul. Russia, Romania, and Turkish Republics come to the mind when one talks about the shutter trade but one fifth of this trade in Laleli market is made with the North African countries. Ayhan Karahan, the Chairman of Laleli Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (LASIAD), said that Turkey and Algeria make shutter trade since 1983 and that the trade with Algeria and other countries increased 150 percent when compared with the figures before 1998.

CAKICI AND NURIS PULL TRIGGERS
Ten people who were determined to be the men of Alaattin Cakici, the mafia boss, attacked on the Karagumruk Club at 10.00 p.m. yesterday. The assailants who raked with gunfire the club, injured 16 people and ran away. The injured people were determined to be the men of Nuri Ergin.

TURKISH CYPRIOTS MOBILIZED FOR LITTLE ANDREA
The Turkish Cypriots were mobilized to give their blood samples for Andreas Vasiliu, a six-year-old Greek Cypriot child with leukaemia. The number of the Turkish Cypriots who want to give their blood samples, exceeded 500. The Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots gave their blood samples in Beyarmudu which is near Pile, the only village in which Turkish and Greek Cypriots live together, within the framework of a joint initiative.

SABAH (LIBERAL)

FLOATING POWER PLANTS ON THE WAY
Energy Minister Cumhur Ersumer said they would set up floating power plants in South East Turkey as a temporary solution to Turkey's energy problem.
