PRESS RELEASE (95)99 24 October 1995

CRISIS MANAGEMENT EXERCISE WITH NACC AND PFP PARTNERS (PCM 95)

NATO will conduct the first Crisis Management Exercise with NACC and PfP Partners from October 25-27th at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. It will include briefings and discussions of national, regional and global crisis management practices and experience as well as discussions about a hypothetical crisis based on a generic scenario affecting NACC and PfP countries.

The aim of the exercise, which is called PCM 95, is to deepen political interaction and understanding of crisis management techniques and practices through discussions and practising crisis management responses to a simulated, hypothetical crisis.

All NACC and PfP Partners have been invited to participate in PCM 95 and speakers and observers have been invited from the United Nations, OSCE, EU and WEU.

The New Strategic Concept highlighted the importance of crisis management in the new strategic environment. This new role of the Alliance and the importance of a broad co-operative approach to crisis management efforts involving a wide range of nations underlines the utility and importance of PCM 95. NATO Information is also available on E-Mail via the following address: "NATODOC@HQ.NATO.INT".
