Collaborators in Cultural Technology and Communications at U. ofJob Opportunities Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: "HR-Net News Distribution Manager" <dist@hri.org>Originally From: Nicolas Vernicos <n_vernicos@yahoo.com> AN INVITATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF THE AEGEAN (GREECE) Located in the island of Lesbos (city of Mytilini) in Greece, the new Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean (Greece) wishes to establish exchange and research programs with American Faculties and Cultural Institutions in the fields of 1. Cultural Informatics and digital technologies for cultural contents. 2. Museum studies. 3. Multicultural Societies. 4. Diasporic, Minority and Indigenous Cultures. 5. Distance learning and educational multimedia development. 6. Digital Libraries. 7. Island and insular Cultures and ways to overcome isolation in insular and scarcely inhabited areas through the use of distance learning and e-technologies. 8. Hellenic and Mediterranean cultures (with e-technologies). The Department proposes joint projects that could be financed through the European Union-USA cooperation scheme, through bilateral agreements and by institutional or private sponsoring. Please note that American archaeologists and anthropologists have been working in various sites in Greece (e.g in East Corinthia) and we would be glad to cooperate with them in digitalizing findings, as well as jointly preparing materials that could be published in the Internet and disseminated to multilingual publics. The Department will also welcome American academics wishing to spend short periods for research or during their sabbatical leave in our campus in the island of Lesbos by providing office facilities, the use of a computer and free internet service. Greek speaking academics are also invited to consider applying to teach in our department, for a number of terms or premanently. (Please consult our studies program. We are also prepared to discuss with teachers holding a PhD creating a permanent academic employment.
