POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CANCER BIOLOGY

DEADLINE: May 15, 2002

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position in Cancer Biology/Radiobiology is available for a motivated individual at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University School of Medicine, in North Carolina, USA. Employment will begin on August 1st, 2002. The research will involve investigation of the effects of hypoxia on tumor cell proliferation and apoptosis in vitro and in animal tumor xenografts. Experiments will include use of microarray gene expression profiling, gene delivery using adenoviral vector systems and use of knockout cell lines.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in the area of Biology or Biochemistry, preferably in the area of Tumor Biology. The ideal applicant will have expertise in gene expression analysis and routine molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis)

The initial appointment is for 3 years with the possibility of extension for an additional year. Starting salary is $30,000 (approx. ?34,200) per year. The Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University School of Medicine is one of only 30 NCI-designated Cancer Centers in the US. The Radiobiology division occupies a recently-renovated space equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation including a Typhoon 9600 phosphorimager-chemilumifluorescence detection system, an ABI 7000 real-time PCR system, a 96-well automated luminomiter, etc. Winston-Salem offers many cultural and recreational opportunities and the cost of living is at about the US average.
