Post-doctoral position in Protein Crystallography

A post-doctoral position is available from August 1st in the group of Dr. Tassos Papageorgiou at the Turku Centre for Biotechnology in BioCity Turku, Finland, to carry out structural studies on key protein molecules and domains involved in blood cell development and differentiation. A recent PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology or related disciplines is required. Expertise in macromolecular crystallography is desirable; however experienced biochemists or molecular biologists keen to learn protein crystallography are particularly encouraged to apply.

Our laboratory is fully equipped for cloning, protein expression, purification and crystallisation. The X-ray facilities include a Mar345 image plate, Osmic mirrors, Oxford Cryosystems equipment, Xenon derivatization apparatus and several Silicon Graphics workstations. Excellent core facilities for molecular and cell biology work are available. A Functional Genomics Unit and the Finnish DNA-microarray Facility operate in the Centre. The Centre has been jointly established by the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University and is an active part of the highly interactive and lively scientific community of BioCity Turku (http://www.biocity.turku.fi).
