PhD POSITION Distributed Computing and Systems Research Group Computing Science Department, Chalmers University of Technology Gothenburg, Sweden

http://www.cs.chalmers.se/Cs/Research/DCS/pos.html

There is a PhD position available for research within a project whose focus is in resource allocation (e.g. bandwidth allocation, routing, admission control, etc) of communication systems (wireless, internet), in particular in a way that accounts for quality-of-service (QoS) parameters (e.g., deadlines, bandwidth availability, error probability, cost bounds & billing, etc.). Within the project there exist possibilities for collaboration with the ARTES network of academic and industrial groups, which focuses on research on Real-Time Systems (http://www.docs.uu.se/artes), in one of the premier countries in research and development in this field.

The successful candidate can start at her/his earliest convenience, not later than September 2001.

To apply, send to ptrianta@cs.chalmers.se: - your CV, covering your experience, and giving the names and adresses of referees; - a list of courses that you have followed and the grades received; - copies of any papers you would like us to take into account.

Both English and Swedish are used as working languages in our department. As an English speaker, you will have no difficulty at work and in every-day communication. Gothenburg is a pleasant, lively city, with approx. half a million inhabitants and three universities; at http://www.sverigeturism.se/smorgasbord/ you can find more info about Sweden and Gothenburg.
