PhD STUDENTSHIP IN THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF SELF-PIERCE RIVETED ALUMINIUM STRUCTURES

Department of Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineering, University of Hertfordshire, UK.

Applications are invited for a three-year PhD studentship starting in November/December 2000 within the Materials Group of the Department of Aerospace, Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hertfordshire. The aim of the project is to develop an understanding of the mechanical properties and behaviour of self-pierce riveted aluminium-alloy structures. The project will be jointly sponsored by Alcan International Limited and the University of Hertfordshire.

The studentship will provide, in addition to the cost of fees, a bursary and research facilities within a thriving research environment. Applicants will normally hold a minimum of a 2.1 degree(or equivalent) in mechanical, materials, manufacturing or automotive engineering(or related areas).
