The Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis (AIIA) Laboratory at the Department of Informatics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece is seeking for candidates of EU nationality to fill two vacant research positions:

* 1 Postdoctoral researcher for a 32 month appointment period starting April 1st, 2000.
* 1 Predoctoral researcher for a 36 month appointment period starting April 1st, 2000. The applicant can work towards a PhD degree, while occupying the position, if desirable.

The applicants are required to prove their research experience in the following topics:

* Still image analysis and segmentation
* Video parsing, segmentation and representation
* Mixed media analysis (image-audio-visual)

The positions are financed by a EU Research and Training Network (RTN) project dealing with the field of multimedia information retrieval. Very good knowledge of English is highly desirable.

The Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis (AIIA) Laboratory at the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (Director Prof. Ioannis Pitas) invites applications from European Union nationals for the following vacant research positions:

* Postdoctoral researcher(s) for a total appointment period of three (3) years starting May 1st, 2000.
* Predoctoral researcher(s) for a total appointment perior of forty (40) months starting May 1st, 2000. The applicant can preferably work towards a PhD degree during his/her appointment period.

The applicants are required to prove related research experience to the following topics:

* Face analysis
* Frontal face verification
* Facial expression and hand gesture recognition
* Audio-visual speech recognition
* Audio-visual speech synthesis
* Computer-based synthesis of virtual talking heads
* Design of active web browsers

The positions are financed by the European Union Research and Training Network (RTN) "Multi-modal Human-Computer Interaction". A very good knowledge of English is highly desirable.
