October 23, 1997

The Division of Computational Mathematics and Informatics at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Patras, Greece, is seeking a scientist for a 3-year research position under a program funded jointly by the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GSRT) and the European Union.

The candidates for this position should - have an expertise in one or more of the fields of Computational Mathematics and Informatics, - have at least two years of postdoctoral experience, - reside outside Greece continuously for at least the last two years, - be able to speak Greek.

The salary will be roughly equal to that of the Assistant Professor. The selected person will have to conduct research in the Department of Mathematics and supervise a graduate student whose support will also be available by the same program.

The Department of Mathematics will have to submit a proposal to the GSRT that *includes the candidate's name* by November 10, 1997 so all candidates should submit their applications to our Department by November 3, 1997 to ensure enough time for examining the applications by our faculty members.

Applications should include an up-to-date CV, two (2) letters of recommendation and any supporting material (awards etc.) and should be sent to:

Prof. M.N. Vrahatis Division of Computational Mathematics and Informatics, Department of Mathematics, University of Patras, GR-26110 Patras Greece

E-mail (vrahatis@math.upatras.gr) or Fax submissions (+30-61-992965) are preferable due to the tight timing. More information can be obtained from the GSRT's web site: http://www.gsrt.gr (in the Announcements) or by e-mail to the above address.

Please forward this message to anyone who might be interested.
