SUMMER STUDY IN GREECE

The Department of Educational Communication and Technology at New York University's School of Education will offer a six credit graduate summer study program in Greece, June 7-28, 1997. This summer's program provides a practical understanding of cognitive science and educational technology as they are applied to learning teaching and the design of educational media.

Students develop this understanding by exploring issues of knowledge, learning and teaching in an environment rich in cognitive artifacts and traditions. The program's goals are posed as a quest for knowledge - an effort to "learn about learning" through the interaction with cultural artifacts, traditions and people of Greece, from Antiquity through the Classical, Byzantine, and contemporary eras, including archaeological sites, museums and artistic events.

To balance experiential learning with the classroom, students also participate in seminars and group discussions with noted Greek scholars and practitioners of museums, universities and other institutions of learning and culture.

This program invites applications and inquiries from graduate and undergraduate students, professionals and scholars.
