Gene Therapy Fellowship

Job Opportunities Directory - Previous Article - Next Article

The Thalassaemia International Federation will be offering in 1997 a number of research fellowships for both postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty members interested in the field of gene therapy research for thalassaemia. The deadline for such applications is March 10 1997 and the awards will commence before June 30 1997.

In this context I am interested to know of any TC or GC candidates who would be interested to work in my lab on such a project, in order to submit an application for one of these fellowships. My group is investigating two general approaches for gene therapy:

  1. Locus replacement by episomal maintenance or site-specific targeting of large genomic inserts.
  2. Pharmaceutical approaches based on antisense/antigene strategies and on directed gene conversion.

As these projects are being pursued in collaboration with Prof. Robert Williamson in Melbourne, Australia, the candidate should be prepared to work in either lab according to the requirements of the project.

Interested candidates should contact me at the address below and send me a copy of their cv as soon as possible.
