The University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece, created two new departments:

1. Balkan, Slavic and Eastern European Studies, and
2. Music Science and Art, which will be focused on developing:
   1. European (classical) music,
   2. Byzantine music,
   3. Greek Traditional (popular) music, and
   4. contemporary music.
