From: stamatis@hal.et.tudelft.nl (Stamatis Vassiliadis)

Open Position: 1 post-doc
Duration : 2 Years
Starting Date : Immediately
Research area : Computer Networks

University: Delft University of Technology

Laboratory: CARDIT (Computer Architecture and Digital Techniques)

Project : AUDION (AUDIting in Open Networked systems)

Project Description : The project is a collaboration between "CONSUL Risk Management B.V.", and the CARDIT (Computer Architecture and Digital Techniques) laboratory of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Delft University of Technology. The project, involves the definition of a distributed environment for safe security administration, status and event audit, intrusion detection, and security management, in a multi-vendor multi-OS computer systems network.
The design must enable certification at a high assurance level according to the recent standard "Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation".
About 8 junior and senior researchers and 1 project leader will participate in the project.

Description of Post-doc position: The post-doc position is for the formulation of design criteria for distributed systems and for secure communication through a network. The distributed system is to be set-up in such way that on the one hand, breakdown of a computer within the network has the least possible influence on the other computers, and on the other hand, consistency with respect to security is guaranteed. The final design will be implemented. Thus existing standards and methods will have to be considered in the research.
