RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITIONS

UNIVERSITY OF CYPRUS

The Department of Public and Business Administration of the University of Cyprus invites applications for two Research Associate positions starting Summer, 1996.

The positions concern a research project funded by the European Union on the subject of "High-Performance Computing for Financial Planning under Uncertainty".

The project involves the development and implementation of models and solution procedures for financial planning problems under uncertainty (e.g., valuation of complex financial instruments, asset/liability portfolio management, etc.)

The implementation and testing of solution procedures for large-scale stochastic programs on a parallel computer architecture are an integral part of the project.

A high-performance parallel computing facility will be acquired for this project in the very near future.

We seek individuals with a strong background in numerical optimization and computer programming.

Applicants should have a graduate degree in Operations Research, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.

Preference will be given to applicants who hold a Ph.D. degree, and/or have research experience in the areas of parallel computing, stochastic programming, large-scale optimization, computational finance.

Successful applicants will be offered a one year-contract, renewable for up to three years.

Renumeration will be comensurate to qualifications and research experience. A typical base salary starts at CYP 650, subjected to semi-yearly adjustments for inflation. Currently 1 CYP is US\$ 2.23.
