          NETWORKING RESEARCH POSITIONS IN GREECE
          =======================================

  The Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) at the
National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos," Aghia
Paraskevi, Attiki, Greece, announces the opening of two Research
positions, one of Researcher level A, and the other of Researcher
level B in the area of computer networks. Applicants must have
specialization in one or more of the following subjects:  network
architectures, protocols, routing, security, multimedia,
routers/switches, with an emphasis on their application.

   A Researcher at level B must have a Ph.D. degree, and the ability
to organize and manage research programs, to coordinate and direct the
particular research activities of a research program, and to advance
novel ideas in science and technology.  He/she must also have original
publications in international journals and must have been recognized
by his peers for his contributions to the advancement of science.

   A Researcher at level A must have a Ph.D. degree, and the ability
to establish new research directions, to coordinate broader research
activities, to contribute to the definition of research policy, to
have been internationally recognized for his scientific contributions
in his area of specialty, and to have a rich publications record in
internationally recognized research journals.

   The position of Researcher at level A is equivalent to a professor
in the Greek academia, while a researcher at level B is equivalent to
an associate professor. Both Researcher positions are tenured.

   The monthly salary of Researcher at level A, with prior service in
a research institution within or outside Greece, is approximately
500,000 drs, or a yearly salary (14 payments/year) of 7,000,000 drs.
A Researcher's salary could be doubled with participation in research
programs that are established competitively.

   N.C.S.R.  "Demokritos" is located in the Athens suburb of Aghia
Paraskevi, at the foothills of mountain Ymhttos.  "Demokritos" is the
oldest and largest physical sciences research center in Greece, with
eight institutes and a total staff of 700, and is the home of
"Ariadne," the Greek academic and research computer network.

   IIT was established in 1985 and has a staff of about 40 that
includes senior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students,
and technical support personnel.  For more information on the

   Application and C.V, must be received by February 20, 1995.
You must also submit a certified copy of a legal ID showing
your age (Greek Id card, Passport) and official army certifcate (type A
or type B) showing your military status before the selection committe
convenes. It is best if both of these certificates are submitted within
the application deadline.
