BEATRICE HAMBLETT

and

SHARON STEWART

OPENING: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Embassy of Greece 2217 Massachusetts Ave., N.W. Washington, DC 20008

A photographic exhibition that launches a series of cultural events on Greek Architecture. Photographers Beatrice Hamblett and Sharon Stewart present a unique imagery from ancient to traditional Greek architectural elements and structures. Hamblett spends part of each year in Greece discovering abandoned structures of traditional architecture. She delights in the decaying beauty of these old structures, presenting a gentle series of shimmered frailty in her silver gelatin black and white photographs. Stewart's photography of archeological Greek sites and monuments conveys a dilated sense of time by using the enhanced visual spectrum of black and white infrared film.
