Symphony by the Sea orchestra, based in Marblehead, MA and led by acclaimed Boston Ballet conductor Jonathan McPhee, will present a world premiere of a new orchestral work by the 17 year old composer Athena Adamopoulos.

The piece, entitled Four Episodes for Orchestra, is Miss Adamopoulos's first full orchestral work. Also on the program is Mozart's Symphony No. 38, "Prague" and "Fantasia on a them by Thomas Talllis" by the British composer, Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Two performances are scheduled:

Saturday, November 15, 8 PM at Abbot Hall, Marblehead, MA For tickets, please call the symphony phone at 978-745-4955

Sunday, November 16, 3 PM at Governor Dummer Academy, Newbury, MA. Tickets for this concert exclusively through the Firehouse Center for the Arts, Newburyport. Phone: 978-462-7336. All seats: $25. Students: $10

Miss Adamopoulos, who lives in New York, has been recognized as one of the outstanding young classical music composers in the US. Her sonata for cello was premiered on the youth-oriented classical music radio show From the Top by Yo Yo Ma.

Symphony by the Sea is seeking sponsorship support for the Marblehead concert. Miss Adamopoulos will be in the Boston area over the November 14 - 16 weekend and could be available for public appearances.
