All proceeds of the concert will go to Lobby's campaign for the reunification of Cyprus. Further details on www.lobbyforcyprus.org Alexia is one of the most talented, renowned, and versatile singers in Greece, with a series of gold and platinum records, including one in Scandinavia, and a TOP 100 hit in the U.S.A, while she was still a student at Berklee College of Music, in Boston. Her launching album "Alexia" was an overnight success, starting a wave in singing Greek pop music. She has worked closely with the internationally acclaimed composer and the "Mikis Theodorakis Popular Orchestra", and the recording of her latest double album "Alexia - Mikis Theodorakis", has been released in ten European countries. Meanwhile, she has released "Alexia in a Jazz Mood", the most successful jazz album in Greece, "Achaeon Akti", an ode to Cyprus, and "Famagusta", an album containing poetry by the former Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus Claire Angelidou. The latter album, dedicated to her beloved, occupied by Turks, town of Famagusta, was presented at the ancient theatre of Herodium in Athens, in a commemoration of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus Demetris Fanis is the singer of the popular song "Porizin", that won the 1994 Cypriot Song Contest. He performed at two of the most established night-clubs in Cyprus for five years, gaining his own audience, and after he released his first album in 1996, he moved to Athens, in order to continue his career. Ever since, he has toured with composer Marios Tokas all over Greece and Cyprus, as well as South Africa, becoming one of his leading singers Alexia and Demetris Fanis will showcase a program mostly comprised of well-known Greek songs, covering a wide repertoire. The eminent composers featured will be Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Yannis Markopoulos, Mimis Plessas, Manos Loizos, Demos Moutsis, Marios Tokas, and Yiorgos Andreou. The prestigious Piccadilly Theatre is situated at Denman Street, in the heart of West End, and is currently staging the award winning production of the musical Spend, Spend, Spend. Lobby for Cyprus is a non-party political, non-sectarian organisation based in the U.K with the aim of reuniting Cyprus. Lobby was formed in 1992 by a number of U.K based refugee associations and individuals concerned about the continued Turkish occupation of Cyprus. Since its inception Lobby has campaigned vigorously against the brutal invasion, occupation, ethnic cleansing and destruction of the Hellenic heritage of 37% of the Republic of Cyprus by Turkey, and for the restoration of the human rights of all Cypriots, in particular the Greek-Cypriot refugees. Lobby has remained focused on its goals and objectives, and has been successful in delivering its policies and campaign material clearly and concisely to decision makers.
