The Hellenic Resources Institute (HRI) is pleased to announce the visit of the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Theodoros Pangalos. At a public lecture on Wednesday March 5, 1997 Mr. Pangalos will discuss ``Problems and Perspectives of European Integration'' at Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. The lecture will take place at the Kennedy School's STARR Auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Pangalos is a graduate of the University of Athens, Faculty of Law and Economics. He received a Master's of Science in Politics and Philosophy and a Doctorate in Economics from the Paris 1 University (Pantheon-Sorbonne). Throughout Greece's seven year dictatorship, Mr. Pangalos played an active role in organizing anti-dictatorship activities; he founded the Anti-Dictatorship Committees Association for Western Europe and sought to isolate the junta by publishing articles in French, English, Italian, German, and Scandinavian periodicals.

Mr. Pangalos has dedicated much of his career to public service. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs in January 1996, Mr. Pangalos served as Greece's Under-Secretary for EEC Affairs, Minister for Transportation and Communication, and Alternate Minister for Foreign Affairs. Mr. Pangalos was elected Member of the Greek Parliament in 1981, 1989, 1990, and 1993.

HRI was founded by a group of young Greek academics and professionals in May 1993. Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, New York City, and Athens, Greece, HRI is an independent, non-profit organization which aims to create a link between the Greek public policy maker and academicians, professionals, entrepreneurs and scientists of the Greek Diaspora and international community.

``Problems and Perspectives of European Integration'' will take place at the STARR Auditorium, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, 79 John F. Kennedy Street, Cambridge, MA at 6:30 p.m, Wednesday March 5th. This lecture is open to the public. For more information, please contact HRI at (617) 725-3445 or by email at info@hri.org.
