The American Hellenic Institute presents:

1997: THE YEAR OF CYPRUS? AMBASSADOR JAMES A. WILLIAMS Former Cyprus Coordinator, Department of State

In their pre-election foreign policy statements, both President Clinton and Senator Dole gave prominence to the need for a settlement in Cyprus. Recent events on the island and the impending start of negotiations on Cyprus' accession to the European Union give new urgency to the need for a settlement of the Cyprus problem.

Ambassador James Williams, until recently the State Department's Coordinator for Cyprus, is uniquely well qualified to review the Administration's policy. His presentation will look back over the negotiations of the past two years as well as forward to the shape of a possible settlement.

Location: Hellenic House, 1220 16th Street, N.W. Time: 12-1 p.m. Date: December 4, 1996
