GLORY OF BYZANTIUM
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York will mount a landmark
exhibition "The Glory of Byzantium" from March 11 to July 6. The exhibition
focuses on the four centuries from the end of iconoclasm in the 9th century
to the sacking of Constantinople in the 13th century during the crusades
that began 1n 1204. The exhibition comprises over 350 works culled from 110
different institutions and private collections in twenty countries. About
10% of the works loaned to the Metropolitan for the exhibition are from
Greece. "The Glory of Byzantium" is unique because it marks the first
