"Geopolitics of Oil and Developments in the Balkans and Beyond: Challenges for Greek foreign policy"

About Mr. Andrianopoulos
Mr Andrianopoulos was born in Greece in 1946. He has studied Political Sience at the University of Athens and Comparative Politics at Cambridge University, University of Kent (U.K.) and the University of Oslo (Norway). He is a member of parliament, elected since 1974 and belongs to the conservative party of New Democracy. He has held numerous ministerial positions. Most recently he was Minister of Industry and Commerce (1991-92) and Minister of State (1992-1993).

Mr Andrianopoulos has written a rich variety of books and articles in prominent Greek and foreign journals and newspapers. His latest book, "Islamic fundamentalism and the dangers for Greece" was published in 1989. An article by Mr Andrianopoulos, entitled "Will Greece's Socialists Stand For Markets?" appeared on Tuesday, Jan 23 1996 in the European edition of the Wall Street Journal.

Mr Andrianopoulos' talk will center in the developments in the Balkans, the Transcaucasia and the Central Asia. He will also present the challenges that these developments create for Greek foreign policy in the post Cold War era.
