THE HELLENIC MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER IS SEARCHING FOR ARTISTS OF GREEK DESCENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NEOLAIA II EXHIBITION

The Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center is pleased to announce a call for submissions for its upcoming exhibition Neolaia/Pathos: new.youth.passion. This exhibition follows the highly successful Neolaia: Fresh Faces in Art of 2002. The exhibition will run September 10, 2009- January 10, 2010 at the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center in Chicago, IL and will feature the work of artists of Greek decent aged 20-40. The exhibition will be curated by Mary Antonakos, Director of I space, Chicago gallery of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Diane Katsiaficas, Artist and Professor, Department of Art, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN.

Submissions must include:

1. Current Resume/Biographical information

-Include name, address, email, phone number (daytime - where you can be reached during business hours) educational background starting with high school, exhibition record, honors and awards received

2. Artist Statement.

-No more than 100 words. Clearly state the intentions of your work or what ideas you are addressing.

3. Properly formatted CD or DVD featuring no more than 10 works available for exhibition during the designated display period.

Image requirements:

" Images must clear, professionally presented, and accurately represent the work.

" Images must be in jpeg format.

" Largest dimension (length or width) should be 1000 pixels.

" Image resolution must be set at 72 dpi.

" Name each image as follows: artist's last name

first name

entry number. For example: papachristou

john

01.jpg, papachristou_john_02.jpg, etc.

4. A separate page with corresponding title, date of creation, medium and dimensions for each image or multi-media piece.

-When submitting "time arts", video, film, installations, etc. include above information and a list of media equipment needed for installation.

All submissions (incomplete submissions will not be reviewed) must be received by March 15, 2009 to be considered. Selected artists will be notified via post by May 4, 2009. All submissions become property of the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center. If you would like your submission returned, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
