  • [01] TENSION IN COURT BETWEEN DEFENSE ATTORNEYS

    Athens, 6 August 2003 (16:14 UTC+2)

There was intense verbal conflict in the trial concerning the crimes allegedly committed by the 19 suspected members of the 17 November terrorist group, between the defense attorneys of Alexandros Giotopoulos and Patroklos Tselentis.

The incident began with the accusation made by Ioannis Rachiotis, attorney for Giotopoulos (alleged leader of the organization), that accused Patroklos Tselentis of deception, supporting that with his testimony he is attempting to substantiate the charges of instigation attributed to Giotopoulos regarding most of 17N's crimes.

Thomas Papagiannis, attorney to Mr. Tselentis, said when I told you that Tselentis was not involved in the Momferatos case, Giotopoulos was celebrating. What are you saying now?, to which Mr. Rachiotis responded: Now the scenario is being revealed.

The incident was ended with the intervention of the court President, Michalis Margaritis.

Alleged leader of the 17N terrorist organization A. Giotopoulos agreed to his cross-examination with P. Tselentis, under the condition that he be given the chance to complete his own statement. In response to questions raised by Mr. Rachiotis, defense attorney for Giotopoulos, Tselentis supported that in his preliminary statement he had not given the information about the organization's alleged leader, because he did not remember it, and because the questions addressed to him at the time concerned his own activity in the organization.

[05] BRITISH TOURIST MEETS WITH TRAGIC DEATH

    Athens, 6 August 2003 (10:48 UTC+2)

It was a principle of 17 November for all members to participate in the executions for solidarity reasons, supported Patroklos Tselentis, before the court trying the crimes allegedly committed by the 19 suspected members of 17N, while he stated that he never feared punishment or any other reaction from the organization after he decided to leave.
