    The Criminal Court of Appeals overruled the objection made by Vassilis Jorjatos on not using his preliminary statements and his confession, as his claims that those statements were the product of blackmail, threats and physical abuse, were not accepted.Today will be the 100th day of the suspected members of the 17N terrorist organization, with interest mainly concentrated of the statement of Patroklos Tselentis, who has not repealed his preliminary statement, has admitted his participation in the organization during the 1983-1988 period, has condemned the practices and has spoken about specific individuals and actions.

    [02] PROPOSAL FOR JOINT EXHIBIT OF PARTHENON MARBLES

    The creation of a joint exhibit of the Parthenon Marbles was proposed by the Greek government to the British side, as was made known by Minister of Culture Ev. Venizelos, drawing on a cover story of the Sunday Times, according to which the British Museum was negotiating the return of the Marbles, even if just temporarily, in view of the Olympics, despite its categorical, at times, refusal to return them.

    This way the Marbles can be in Athens for the 2004 Olympics with the cooperation of the two museums, the British Museum and the New Acropolis Museum, pointed out Mr. Venizelos, adding that the Greek side is prepared to sign all necessary agreements, both between the two museums and between the two countries.

    Furthermore, both countries are members of the European Union and UNESCO. The response of the British to this Greek proposal would be a cultural and political initiative of global proportions, stressed the Minister.

    According to the Sunday Times, the draft of the agreement was proposed by Lord Owen, while the Athens-London contacts on the issue are being encouraged by UNESCO, the cultural branch of the UN.

    [03] MUTATED PRODUCTS COMING THIS WAY

    The green light for the importing of mutated products as well as for the approval of new genetically altered produce, is expected by six multinational biotechnology companies that are active in Greece. According to the Sunday Vima newspaper, the goal of DuPont Pioneer, DOWW-Agro, Bayer CropScience, Monsanto, BASF and Syngenta, is the approval for the cultivation of genetically altered varieties of cotton, corn and sugar beets.

    [04] COMMON POSITION OF LEFT ON SIMPLE PROPORTIONAL VOTE

    Their actions for the promotion of instituting the simple proportional vote, are being coordinated by the parties of the Left. Secretary General of the KKE, Aleka Papariga, had a telephone communication with Coalition President Nikos Constantopoulos, and they agreed to undertake common initiatives, while the President of DIKKI Dimitris Tsovolas, responded positively to a letter from Mr. Constantopoulos.
