One million women and 500.000 men in Greece have depression symptoms or will present symptoms of the disease at some point in their life.

Women appear to be more sensitive as they suffer from depression more often and according to specialists, their increased number compared to men is due to the fact that they are more willing to admit that they have depression and seek the help of a doctor.

This catastrophic disease for the personality of the patient appears to be the result of the combined effect of genetic and environmental factors. Therefore, depression can be inherited but it can also be the result of a human loss, psychological and economic problems, stress, losing a job, loneliness, physical or sexual abuse. According to a recent study by the World Health Organization, the disease usually starts at the age of 20-30.
