    Bonn, 29 July (MPA)

The stance of the German government on the issue of the war reparations for the victims of the Nazis is characterized as incomprehensible and provocative by prefect of Viotia in central Greece Mr. Ioannis Stamoulis in an interview with the German magazine "Spiegel".

The German magazine mentions that former PASOK Euro-deputy Mr. Stamoulis has filed suits on behalf of the relatives of the victims of the 1944 massacre in Distomo, near the ancient Delphi where the SS killed 228 people indiscriminately.

Responding to the question if there are unwritten agreements on which Germany bases its view that the issue has closed, Mr. Stamoulis stated that he is not aware of such agreements explaining that this is the reason why he thinks that the German stance over the issue is incomprehensible. He also clarified that within the framework of the agreements signed Germany has recognized that there are more World War II victims who claim war reparations.

    Ankara, 29 July (MPA)

The Turkish foreign ministry sold its secret documents, together with the filing-cabinets where they were kept, to a scrap dealer!

Those documents were the written correspondence of the Turkish foreign ministry with the General Army Staff and dealt with security issues covering the period of the late '70's to the early '80's.

According to the newspaper "Hurriyet", the scandal was revealed when the scrap dealer found the secret documents and in a state of panic notified the General Army Staff.

The newspaper writes that when the Turkish foreign ministry moved to a new building many of its filing-cabinets were placed in a store-room at the basement of the new building and the decision to sell them was made in 1995. The 15 filing-cabinets remained unopened for 3 years in the antiques shop and were opened just 2 weeks ago.
