[01] GATSIOUDIS WON THE BRONZE MEDAL IN THE JAVELIN COMPETITION

Athens 6 August (MPA)

This morning the Greek champion in the triple jump Christos Meletoglou qualified for the finals, while Lambros Papakostas will compete later in the afternoon in the high jump finals. Another Greek athlete, Panagiotis Stroumbakos will compete in the 800m semifinals race.

[02] AGREEMENT ON THE SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT OF ALBANIANS IN GREECE

Tirana 6 August (MPA)

Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, in a meeting he had with Foreign Minister Theodoros Pangalos and other members of the government delegation, underlined the significance his country gives to its relations with Greece.

[03] 200 PEOPLE DIED IN A PASSENGER AIRPLANE CRASH

Guam 6 August (MPA)

The Korean Airlines, Boeing 747, had taken off from Seul and its destination was Guam Airport. The crash occured while the airplane was preparing to land in bad weather.

Rescue crews continue the search for survivors and as it was made known by the local authorities, 32 people have been found alive.

[04] THE BRITISH PRESS LAUNCHED AN ATTACK AGAINST THE IAAF PRESIDENT

London 6 August (MPA)

The "Financial Times" maintains that mr.Nebiolo leads Rome's efforts to host the 2004 Olympic Games and he did not miss the chance to accuse the Greeks for the small number of spectators present in the 100m finals last weekend.

The "Daily Mail" accuses mr.Nebiolo of being a man with more ambitions than Hitler or Napoleon, while it expresses skepticism and doubt regarding his intentions. The newspaper also underlines that mr.Nebiolo must have been very glad to see the Olympic Stadium half empty. It should be reminded that mr.Nebiolo in the past had openly supported the Rome candidature for the hosting of the 2004 Olympic Games.

[05] THE CLERIDES-DENKTASH TALKS WILL BE HELD NEAR MONTREAUX, SWITZERLARD

New York 6 August (MPA)

According to New York sources, the United Nations are very encouraged by the agreement reached by Clerides and Denktash on the issue of the missing since the Turkish invasion of Cyprus and based on the existing indications, the UN officials will soon appoint a new representative to the Fact-Finding Committee for the Missing.

[06] OBSERVERS FROM FYROM WILL OVERSEE THE ELECTIONS IN SERBIA

Skopje 6 August (MPA)

Federal Republic of Yugoslavia Ambassador to Skopje mr.Zoran Yanatskovic has already made a formal request to FYROM's Parliament President Tito Petkofski.
