  • [01] A 10% DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO MAIN POLITICAL PARTIES The difference between the two main political parties in Greece, the governing party of New Democracy and the main opposition party of PASOK, is about 10 percentage points, according to the exit polls' results presented by the country's television channe ls.

    According to the state-run television exit polls, New Democracy will get 43% of the votes with a minus-plus variation of 1.5%, PASOK will get 33% with a minus-plus variation of 1.5%, the Communist Party will receive 9.2% of the votes with a minus-plus va riation of 0.8%, Coalition of the Left 4.8% with a minus-plus variation of 0.8% and LAOS 3.5% with a minus-plus variation of 0.5%.

    It is predicted that New Democracy will elect 11 Euro-deputies, PASOK 8, the Communist Party 2, Coalition of the Left 1 and LAOS also 1 Euro-deputy.

  • [02] ND LEADS PASOK BY 10 PERCENTAGE POINTS The exit polls' results, presented by the country's television stations after the closing of the polls at 7pm this evening, show that there is a difference between 7 and 10 percentage points between the governing party of New Democracy and the main oppos ition party of PASOK. The Communist Party appears strengthened, while the party of LAOS will be represented in the Euro-Parliament. The official results will be announced at 11pm this evening across Europe.

    According to the exit poll conducted by the company Kapa Research on behalf of state-run television channel NET, New Democrcay gets 41.5%-44.5%, PASOK 31.5%-34.5%, the Communist Party 8.5%-10%, Coalition of the Left 4%-5.5% and LAOS 3%-4%.

    According to the exit poll by the company Opinion held on behalf of the televison channel MEGA, New Democracy gets 41.5%-43.5%, PASOK 33.5%-36%, the Communist Party appears strengthened compared to the state Parliament elections in march and gets 9%-10.5 %, Coalition of the Left 4.5%-5.5%, LAOS 3%-4% and the rest political parties 4%-5%. Among the rest political parties, the Women for another Europe gets about 1%.

    The MRB exit poll conducted on behalf of the television channel ALPHA, gives to New Democracy 42.8%-45.2%, PASOK 34.8%-36.6%, the Communist Party 7.6%-8.8%, Coalition of the Left 3.8%-4.8%, LAOS 2.8%-3.6% and the rest political parties get 3.5%-4.5%.

    Based on the Metron Analysis exit poll held on behalf of ANT1 television channel, New Democracy gets 41.2%-44.2%, PASOK 34.3%-37.3%, the Communist Party 8.6%-10.2%, Coalition of the Left 4%-5% and LAOS 3.3%-4.3%. All the rest political parties get the sa me percentage with LAOS.

    According to the STAR Channel exit poll, New Democracy gets between 42% and 44%, PASOK 32.5%-34.5%, the Communist Party 8.5%-9.5%, Coalition of the Left 4%-4.8% and LAOS 2.8%-3.5%.

    Based on the ALCO exit poll on behalf of ALTER televison channel, New Democracy gets 41.5%-44.5%, PASOK 34.3%-37.3%, the Communist Party 8%-9.4%, Coalition of the Left 4.4%-5.4% and LAOS 3.4%-4.4%.

  • [03] RECORD HIGH ABSTENTION The highest abstention rate in recent times, which is estimated at 35%-40% was recorded in today's Euro-elections as a large number of voters prefered to go for a swim instead of exercising their right to vote.

    In Greece, as in all the EU countries, voters await for the official results to come out to find out if the parties they support will be represented in the European Parliament. The official results will be out at 11pm this evening across Europe.

  • [04] NEW DEMOCRACY: CLEAR VICTORY Governing party of New Democracy is the big winner of the June 13 Euro-elections, according to the final prediction based on which it is expected to get 42.6% of the vote and 10-11 Euro-Parliament seats.

    PASOK's percentage is expected to be around 34.3% with 8-9 seats in the European Parliament, while the Communist Party will get around 9.5% and 2-3 seats.

    Coalition of the Left is expected to get around 4.5% of the vote and 1 seat and LAOS will be around 4.2% also securing 1 seat in the European Parliament.

  • [B] INTERNATIONAL NEWS

  • [05] VICTORY OF THE CENTER-RIGHT IN EUROPE The center-right is expected to dominate again in the European Parliament, while the social-democrats will come second and the left will be further weakened.

    The above were predicted by the Brussels-based Center for European Political Studies (CEPS) according to a research conducted in all the EU member-states.

    Based on the research, the European People's Party is expected to get around 38%, while the European Socialists will be under 30%.
