The Albanian delegation stated that the main problem is fund raising and showed a special interest in municipal companies and their operation, while they suggested the establishment of closer relations between the two municipalities in the cultural sector. PAPANDREOU IS ON A FOUR-DAY VISIT TO IRANWeb Posted: 14:17 GMT+2Athens, 28/11/1998 (MPA) Minister of development Ms. Vaso Papandreou is on a four-day formal visit to Iran for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic ties and the strengthening of political relations between Greece and Iran.Ms. Papandreou, in an interview with the Iranian News Agency, stressed that her visit to Teheran aims at the further improvement of cooperation between the two countries and among the issues for discussion will be the establishment of joint petrol companies in the Balkans. The minister is accompanied to Iran by 22 businessmen and 13 journalists. [05] TSOVOLAS LAUNCHED AN ATTACK AGAINST THE GOVERNMENTWeb Posted: 14:17 GMT+2Thessaloniki, 28/11/1998 (MPA) Leader of the opposition party of Democratic Social Movement Dimitris Tsovolas launched an attack against the government in his speech delivered in the special session of the party's Central Political Committee that is being held in Thessaloniki.Mr. Tsovolas stated that the country suffers from a democratic deficit and stressed that Greece will not be able to join the EMU. He also accused the two main political parties in Greece of launching a slander campaign against his party and maintained that both parties will receive a slap in the face in the European parliament elections and in the next state parliamentary elections. [06] THE NEW STRIKE OF THE CUSTOMS EMPLOYEES WILL START ON MONDAYWeb Posted: 14:17 GMT+2Athens, 28/11/1998 (MPA) The customs employees will start their new strike action on Monday and as a result problems are expected next week in the supply and distribution of fuel.The ministry of finance appealed to the courts hoping that they will rule against the strike characterizing it as illegal and the decision is expected on Tuesday. The customs employees will be on rotating five-day strikes demanding that their social security fund be excluded from the unification with other 11 funds as it is provided by the proposed mini social security bill.
