 TAKIS GONIAS WILL PLAY IN SPAIN IN THE NEW FOOTBALL SEASON

The 27yearold player left for Spain to play with SPORTING JIJON a team that dropped last football season to the 2nd division of the Spanish football championship. His contract will have a 1+3 years duration and in the first year he will receive the sum of 125 million drachmas.

International investors will place their bids through the Stock Exchange and as it was made known the workers' unions will appeal against the decision characterizing it as null and void.
 STUDENTS WERE TESTED IN COMPOSITION

The abstention percentage was at low levels and on Monday students will be tested in the subjects of physics and ancient Greek.
 THE GREEK AIRPORTS ARE SAFE ACCORDING TO IFALPA

US assistant Secretary of Commerce Mr. Aaron also has stated that the Greek airports are as safe as the airports in the United States and urged his fellow Americans to travel to Greece.
 TSOCHATZOPOULOS: THE ARMED FORCES ARE IN A STATE OF READINESS

He added that it is not helpful for Turkey to use the Cyprus issue and the S-300 missiles to annul the outcome of the Luxembourg and Cardiff EU Summit meetings.
 SIMITIS: THE REFORM POLICY WILL CONTINUE
Web Posted: 14:57 GMT+2Athens, 20/06/1998 (MPA) Prime minister Kostas Simitis speaking in ancient Olympia sent a message to every direction stating that the reform policy of structural changes will continue and no sectional reaction will be able to stop it.
The prime minister stated that no effort made by a small group, using violence as a weapon, can become an obstacle to the country's economic growth and prosperity.
He also said that the government is determined to meet its goals for the viable and balanced development of Greece, the modernization and competitiveness of its economy, the consolidation of its geo-political position and the strengthening of its international role.
Referring to the 2004 Olympic Games, the prime minister said that it is not just an honor for Greece but a great opportunity as well both for society and the Greeks. He said that it is a challenge but stressed that the Greeks are offered the chance to prove that they have the ability to be active and creative.
The prime minister also referred to the projects that will be constructed in ancient Olympia and the wider region on the occasion of the Olympiad.
 CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION BETWEEN GREECE AND FYROM

The founding meeting of the small programs fund that will be responsible for the investment of 500.000 ECU to 23 small municipalities of FYROM, near the borders with Greece, was held in Skopje today.
The program aims at the expansion of cooperation between FYROM and Greece and at setting the path for future mutually profitable contacts.
 NATO WILL CAUSE A NEW "COLD WAR" IF IT INTERVENES IN KOSOVO

French prime minister Lionel Jospen stated that Paris is ready to participate in a military intervention in Kossovo if diplomatic efforts for the end of the crisis fail.
