Greek anti-terrorist police has arrested eight people suspected of terrorist activity, following a series of early morning raids on 10 residences in Athens.

Public Order Minister George Romeos said one of those arrested, Nikos Maziotis, is the suspected ringleader of the "Militant Guerrilla Formation" group. While stressing that the examination of the matter will take considerable time, Mr. Romeos did state that "the material found (in these homes) is used only in bombs".

The officers left the bomb intact after realizing that it had been wrongly assembled and was not dangerous.
