[01] PAPANDREOU GIVES A FIGHT FOR LIFE

Greek Prime Minister mr Andreas Papandreou's medical condition remains steady but serious according to the communiques issued by the medical council which has been observing him since November, 20th when he was admitted to the Onassion Cardiology Centre, suffering from pneumonia.

The communiques confirmed that mr Papandreou has a kidney failure which means that he has to be submittted again for a third to a dialysis procedure while they added that he still has a problem with his respiration which is alos supported mechanically.

The doctors did not want to commit themslves announcing the exact time, the mechanical support would be removed.

As it was made known today, an argentinian dietist took part in the medical council so that he contibutes in the therapy applied on the Greek Prime Minister who is said to have lost weight.

The medical council contradicted rumours that mr Papandreou is clinically dead stressing in such a case there would be no need for all the efforts they make to treat him.

[02] GOVERNMENT CONTINUES WORK

The Governmental Committee met today under the minister of Interior Affairs, Public Administration and Decentralization mr Akis Tsohadjopoulos who according to the law for the government and substitutes the Prime Minister in case he can not exercise his duties.

The committee dealt with the issues of the budget due to be introduced tomorrow in the parliament and especially the money to be given for the sector of education.

Meanwhile it has not been known yet who will head the greek deligation in the European Union summit, due in Madrid in December. As teh Press and Media Minister mr Tilemahos Hitiris said this is an isuue on which the Union has a word.

As it has been known today in the opening ceremony of the Congress of overseas hellenism, mr Papandreou will be subsituted by mr Tsohadjopoulos.

[03] POLITICAL MOBILITY IN THE GOVERNMENTAL PARTY AND THE OPPOSITION

A common opinion on the necessity ofr the continuation of the present parliamentary majority seems to be formed among the most prominent members of the governmental PASOK party including those who recentyly criticised strongly the government.

Ex-Minister mr Theodoros Pangalos stressed today that everydody either having supported or opposed Andreas Papandreou sympathises the Prime Minister.

At the same time, asked about the 1996 budget, the vote on which in the parliament is considered as a vote of confidence for the government, the president of the main opposition party of New Democracy mr Miltiades Evert said that his party is very interested in the this budget because it will be them who will apply it, predicting in fact early elections which his party will win.

[04] ATHENS CONFIRMS GREEK PARTICIPATION IN THE BOSNIAN FORCE

Greek Press and Media Minister mr Tilamahos Hitiris confirmed today that Greece will participate with 1000 men in the international force which will observe the application of the peace agreement in Bosnia

Mr Hitiris said the greek soldiers will not be involved in conflicts and in case such conflicts take place the greek soldiers will depart.

[05] GREEK FOREIGN MIINISTER IN SARAJEVO

Greek foreign minister mr Carolos Papoulias leaves tomorrow for Sarajevo where he will confer with his counterparts of Iran and Bosnia on the recent developments in the area.

The meeting is a part of the tripartite initiative for a peaceful solution on the problems of the area.
